Whopping Penny Mix Jar Of Retro Sweet Classics

I've bought this item too many times now.... I've given it as a present to my sister, a couple of friends, boyfriend and myself (more than once!) Everyone has loved it. The picture doesn't do the size justice. The container is huge!!! Apart from the solid gobstoppers which should be binned immediately (and take up far too much valuable space!) the sweet selection is perfect! There are sours, foamy sweets, jelly sweets and gummy sweets - sometimes there are flying saucers, but they go straight in the bin too! Before I found this pick and mix jar, I couldn't find anything that didn't require a lengthy decision of individually choosing each sweet! The only downside is the price changes from £16.95 - £19.95+ when various seasons approach (namely Xmas!) so make sure you buy with plenty of time to get the best price.

The big jar came in a box with "a quarter of" comic cartoons on the box - great presentation. Great selection of penny sweets - a mix of foam and sugary ones. Haven't found any fizzy ones yet but we've only eaten a handful which were taken from the neck of the jar (ie full jar). Maybe not the cheapest but definitely good value. UPDATE: found the fizzy ones - really nice and not too tart. Unfortunately also found the gobstoppers - I'm protective of my middle aged teeth but 'Im Indoors reckons they're a bit tasteless and a waste of space.

This is one of the best "retro" sweet gifts I have come across. Yes, if you bought the sweets separately you'd undoubtedly be able to ge them cheaper, but my impression is that this offers greater value for money than most. The extra bonus is that the jar is reusable. It is plastic, but it looks the part - just like the old glass jars that sat on the shelf behind the sweetshop counter (albeit maybe a bit smaller). The contents are many of the old penny box favourites - jellies, cola bottles, bananas, shrimps and so on- but none of the "wrapped" sweets (blackjacks etc,), and no chocolate - and over three pounds of them, so weeks of treats even for sweet-toothed adult (to be honest I am not sure that it is aimed at children).

I bought these sweets for my daughter’s 15th birthday as a little gift to go with her presents, i was surprised at the size of them when they arrived, the jar is huge and filled to the top. There is a lovely selection of different sweets and they all taste really good! I would recommend them and will be buying again.

These are much bigger than they look, with a good range of sweets supplied which were enjoyed by young and old alike. We bought two jars based on a review saying there was only two to three hundred sweets in the jars, and needed them for birthday favours. We packed one hundred little bags full of eight sweets each just from one jar alone! I do agree with another reviewer that both seals had been broken on the jars we received, also our jars contained small gobstopper type sweets, which whilst ok for older children and adults are, in my opinion a risk for others, and would have been helpful to have known were going to be included, as weren't actually suitable for the target audience the sweets were primarily bought for.

Great Item in a lovely victorian style jar, well packed with plenty of morish sugar delights, you will be spoilt for choice. Good value and not overpriced like other sellers. Totally recommend this seller with this selection mix. ;0) fab, morish, yummies in my tummy. Just waiting for Item to be back in stock. :0(

This is a very nice Jar of sweets that is filled to the brim with nostalgia and the tastes of yesterday. Bought this as a gift for the people in my office and as with other orders from a quarter of, went down a treat. lots of oh's and ah's and quite a bit of people saying, do you remember this, i loved these. Lasted just over a week in an office of 16 people, compare that to buying 2 boxes of the Cadbury Christmas team hamper both twice the price as this, which lasted only a couple of hours and had no comments at all. All in all a very good trip down memory lane for a large group or for a very nostalgic person, who has a massive sweet tooth.

Recipient happy, but I thought that there could be more of a mixture, not the same sweets replicated.
