Great connector set - make sure you have the right tool!
I was pretty excited to get this kit in the mail today, and immediately opened it up to take a good look at it. It literally includes everything you need on the connector end of things, and everything inside seems to be top shelf quality. The pins are all nice and heavy weight and brightly plated, all the connectors and seals are in tact and looking good. And the container actually contains them all nicely, I didn't find anything scattered or in the wrong place.I got this set for an upcoming diy e-bike project I'm currently gathering parts for. I have to say it's pretty much perfect for what I needed.I would like to take a minute to discuss the tool you'll need to successfully crimp these. If you think you can just use the crimper on your wire strippers...no. Definitely not. You will need a dedicated barrel crimper (typically sold as Deutch crimpers, for obvious reasons) to crimp these. As someone that was trained in electronics in the military, you gain an appreciation for tools that do the job right the first time. Point blank, some are better than others. And servicing electrical connectors is actually VERY specialized work. That's why some connectors have a tool dedicated to them alone. Having the right tool for the connectors in question (or ANY connector) will make a huge difference regarding your success (or lack thereof) with a connector. In short, the right tool makes it quick and easy, the wrong tool means you ruin parts and go looking to buy the right tool later.I really have one brand of electrical connector service tools that are my "go-to", and that's IWISS iCrimp brand crimpers. If you want a "Deutche-dedicated" crimper the HD-2612D is THE one to get.If you want a set that will do more than that, the KIT-DC01 will do Deutch, Delphi, and Metri terminals. Both of these tools will make working with the Deutch connectors in this kit a BREEZE. There are other brands out there, to be sure, many making fine products, some better some worse than others. But I've found this brand to be the best made tool for the dollar spent. So if you're looking for a tool to go with this set to get the most of it, those are the 2 I personally recommend. The one thing to remember when deciding which kit to get, is how many wires are you using in a group. The kit I'm reviewing has up to 4 wires, which covers pretty much all of my needs. If you're using 5 or more wires, make sure you look to their bigger kits covering larger connectors. In summary, this connector kit is top quality, and has everything I need. I heartily recommend it. I also heartily recommend making sure your tools are up to the task for a set of this caliber and quality, for the greatest success. 5 stars.

Good, but not great, Deutsch kit
The Deutsch style connector is a hallmark for automotive wiring. While this kit is good for many types of vehicle projects, you should be aware of some details. First, these connectors need a special tool to make the crimp. I included a pic of my tool, with red and blue handles. Without that type of tool, you cannot set the crimp right. Many companies make this type of tool and even so they are a bit pricey. Second, this version of the Deutsch housing does not have a lip to retain the gasket. As my video shows, when you un-couple a connector, it is likely the gasket will fall out. Third, you must watch the insulation types on your wires, because the weatherproofing plugs work in a very tight range of diameters. With that said, it does the job and has a full set of piece-parts to make up a number of connections.
