Yes, the steering absolutely works on the MiniTrac. Perfect for your little one to take on their adventures!

Would this be suitable for a first birthday present or is it too difficult to use at that age?

They are able to sit on it, also my grandson could reach the ground with his feet. He was able to push himself backwards only. He is now 16 mos and move forward and backwards.
