DIdn't work for me
I'm sorry to say but big disappointment, possibly I have done something wrong as I tried it on my 3rd wine ever.Ruined it completely, I have followed instructions but wine has never cleared. I have used Turbo Klar actually 4 packets of ittrying to get the color back. It's been three months now and wine is still black, after adding carbon wine never got its color back and lost its smell.I have lost 7kg of raspberries. (I didn't try to drink it yet).Just on a side note I have used Alcotec turbo yeast and turbo klar both worked great on two previous occasions with real red grapes and sugar.

Does exactly what it states and the colour change is almost magical to watch!
Bought this for my first batch of home-brewed vodka using alcotec 48 hour yeast.Once fermentation has finished and particulates have settled out if you try your vodka it will taste absolutely vile and the colour will agree with this.However adding the activated carbon will literally turn the brew completely black.Once the final finings are added later and its left the suspension just falls completely to the bottom. My family had a nosey after and could not believe the colour change, and to be fair neither could I. It had literally gone from opaque black to looking like water (with a few little bits clinging to the bucket sides). You won't believe it until you see it.It does improve the taste as well I might add.

Ballihoo worth the fuss
I had some home-made rhubarb wine that had not fermented properly and couldn't be re-started. After fining and racking I had an under-strength wine with a reasonable flavour except for an underlying slightly bitter taste. I decided to fortify it and make a rhubarb sherry but had to get rid of the bitterness first. I ordered Ballihoo's activated carbon product, added some to the brew, left for two days agitating regularly, then micro-filtered the carbon off. The result was a perfectly clear liquid where the bitter taste (and the residual colour) had been removed completely by the activated charcoal. Just the result I wanted.This product did exactly what I wanted it to do.

Good stuff - worth using !
Good value and well packaged. You need to squish the bag quite a bit before use to get the fine carbon evenly re-suspended, but then it certainly does what it's designed for. Do go ahead and buy it !

Really works
I was surprised at how well this worked, but it really did.It's a bit scary having your wine turn black but get the finings and then filter and it all comes out beautifully.Really clogged up the filter pads though.Buy extra.
