Have only had the book for a day. My first impression was that it was all I hoped it would be. I have delved deeper and am very happy with my purchase and can't wait to put my ideas into practise.

Alright
It's ok; not particularly inspiring and the photos aren't terrific. It's too technical for me as I was after ideas more than anything. There are better books out there for inspiration.

Great...
Easy to understand, step-by-step instructions for creating repeat patterns. Easy to read, plus a mini-guide to using software to create patterns as well as hand drawn.

No puedo escribir en espanol. Lo siento mucho. Me alegraria si le gustaria a alguien traducirme.

This book is well written and geared towards the absolute beginner with no design experience whatsoever. It's simple and concise but covers all the basics. The photos and layout are excellent. Well worth a read if you have ever considered designing your own fabric for personal or possible commercial use.

Comprehensive guide for newly entered the field! I specifically was looking for visual concepts and some observations regarding the industry. The book covered all the topics I was looking for and many more. Note for future readers: the industry landscape has changed somehow since 2011, but it remains huge help in understanding and starting point for future explorations. I would highly recommend the book! To the author: I'm so much grateful that someone bothered to describe professional opportunities in the field and how things work in there along with technical information.

This is just a wonderful book! It covers the diverse methods of creating fabric design from start to finish. From computer generated to hand blocked - this book tells it all. The directions are very well done, and very well illustrated. The book begins at the beginning with tools and basic concepts. It covers creating designs with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and covers designing with simple hand block tools. Whatever your questions are about fabric design this book will answer them. I love it, use it and it will remain in my library !
