Excellent Read. Important Read. Good Info.
First of all I have Lofty Wiseman's "SAS Survival Guide" Great book. This Survival Book is just as good in my view. Contains a lot you need to know. I'm in Scotland UK. Although this book is American, makes not much difference. Most of the plants/animals we have here also. Fire building, Animal treating, much the same. Shelters, both from your surroundings, to Tarpaulin set ups, I have The Collins "Book of Knots" This book here covers your basic knots as well, I have the same Collins book of "Free Food" this book also covers that, if not in so much detail, it's got enough that you will need. The book covers medicinal plants here too. Always good to know. You can't not know too much, as every bit helps, compass and their use is covered well. Fire starting, packing your pack the correct way is important, as you do not want your pack, rucksack heavy at the bottom. I'd suggest packing light at the bottom and slowly work your way up to heavy at the top, it's that simple. I'd be taking my 'Tablet which has built in wi-fi with me to the outdoors. For reading this, for the obvious Internet use, my spare "Pebble Charger" which charges my tablet 2x. So I'd not be stuck for ideas that I couldn't find in my books I.E You Tube, for its imformative videos. Plus it's phoning capacity for help. My SAS Book has Morse Code in it, so a torch (which I have and value) necessary for this, and for seeing around I have two head strap on light sources, a wind up lantern, that has Torch, lantern and Flashing Red Beacon, important. So all in all this Book is of great value. Plus great value for the price. Thankyou again for an overall great addition to my camping, survival gear, plus it's in my Tablet. You won't go wrong with a copy of this great book. Have fun, and Most of All Be Safe Out There. Sincerely...Paul Glancy.

I like the 101 style just like I prefer to read ...
I have a book shelf full of survival books, this is a usual addition. I like the 101 style just like I prefer to read the dummies books when learning a new technical subject. Yes its the basics, but even an experienced bush crafter needs to revisit the basics or learn different ways to teach the next generation. I have 2 kids 6 years old and 8 years old and most of this would be useful to them and would help them learn. There is some criticism about the bush craft style. However as there are many authors out there, to stand out you have to have a style, you have to be different these days. It's not a bad thing. Obviously some of the information is not relevant to the UK, but as someone who would like to use my skills in other countries, I still found the content interesting if not useful for me or practical.

I must say this is an excellent book on bushcraft
I must say this is an excellent book on bushcraft. I have the Ray Mears and Bear Grylls stuff but this is straight to the point and easy to read. Dave Canterbury who teaches training courses uses the "10 C's of survival" which is also covered in this book. If you are doing one of his training courses this is a good book to read before and to have as a reference after. Recommened for the Outdoors, Survival and Prepper people. This is the 101 Bushcraft book. There is also a advanced book which further goes into the "10 c's of survival".

This will give you some good knowledge
Insightful book and good tips but being from the uk a lot of the content was American. And things we donโt have here in this country. But all in all still practical and helpful to have and carry with you when hiking etc.

As was written in the book also - 90% of the time you are in the bush, you are using basic skills. Master the basics and all the rest will be easy. Quality read - especially if you are starting out. Watching long videos online often with repeating topics can cost a lot of time. And still you could come short in important skills. Good book to carry - small and light. If need be.
