I would listen to them first.
Long break-in period, I use them on a desk about a 6-inch gap between them and the wall, so I had to reduce bass by 2 dB and treble by 2dB. Good bass, nice, tight and fast, however, the treble is a bit too high for me. Would be perfect satellite speakers for a surround system, with 11.1s as the front, however, I think there are better and cheaper alternatives. I use them with SMSL A18 amp, which is 2x80w at 6 Ohms, these are 8ohm speakers, but they still get too loud, so I have also brought a Teac AI-101DA, which is 2x26w but a better DAC, which I'm hoping will reduce the loudness and make them warmer as the SMSL is very digital.

Amazing alternative to a sound bar
Order these to replace the sub standard audio quality from my TV and PC. I can honestly say these are a massive improvement from standard TV speaker and a better alternative for people that are looking to buy sound bars. The vocals are clear and has a deep base. I would very much recommend buying these and coming form Wharfedale you know the quality and sound is going to be amazing. I would also recommend buying SMSL AD18 HIFI Audio Stereo Amplifier with Bluetooth 4.2 Supports Apt-X,USB DSP Full Digital Power Amplifier 2.1 for Speaker, Small 80Wx2 Class D Amplifier with Subwoofer Output to pair them for a easy of use with controlling sound levels.

1 As not as good as my 10
Wish I’d paid a bit more for the 11.1 As not as good as my 10.1. Just hope I don’t blow these up with my loud music.

No cables
No cables. Giving someone a Christmas present that requires them to buy something else makes one look like a cheapskate. Update 11 Jan - still in the box, buying this was a mistake.
