Royal & Langnickel Charcoal Drawing Art Set

I recently started life drawing, and needed this. This box is by far the most reasonably priced art pack out there. The pencils and charcoal sticks come in a nice tin. There is one soft, one medium, and one hard charcoal pencil, one woodless charcoal pencil, two medium, one hard, and one soft charcoal block, and one pack of charcoal sticks. Really excellent variation. Only issue - the soft charcoal pencil breaks when sharpening, but nothing that can't be solved with a pen knife. The portable tin box is a nice finishing touch. Would highly recommend, and buy again as well!

Charcoal is really just what you are always promised. It's messy and takes some kind of baby fingers super artist to even use these brittle sticks of wood burnings. They are not for every kind of artist not even myself. That being said the quality and versatility of this purchases is a great start kit for any aspiring artist because they have the pencils and the blunt sticks all vital towards sketch a work of art.There could be more versatility but it's a great basic start.

This seems a good introductory set for the money in my view, with various types of charcoals to try out. I don't know how it stacks up against more expensive professional brands but it suits my needs well enough and so I will be purchasing these sets again for my grandchildren.

A bit hit and miss.I knew these weren't the best quality when I ordered but I needed something cheap to take on holiday for loose sketching.They're fine but wouldn't be top of my list for charcoal.Be warned that the pencils need sharpening, no big deal obviously but not everyone has a sharpener on them.The willow sticks are my favourite - they're a little scratchy but that's not surprising, the best sticks cost much more.The set is absolutely fine, especially for the price and maybe I've been a bit harsh with my rating.However, it isn't great quality and I don't think the sticks will last long as they're small.Mixed feelings!Thanks for reading, I hope you find this review helpful.

Really love this set, and special the full charcoal pencil.

Brought it for a friend for Christmas so I can't comment on how well it works but it looks like alot for how much I spent and it looks good quality

Alright for an ammeter but not really artist standard. The hard/medium/soft aren't really any different but they're good enough for the money. Arrived undamaged and ready for use. Would buy again.

Good quality, Arrived quickly and all the charcoal was still intact. The tin is nice and makes for a good portable container for the more delicate charcoal. I would buy this again.

Los carboncillos de vid son de muy buena calidad. Los negros son intensos, homogeneos y que se difuminan de forma uniforme. Los lápices de carboncillo se presentan en tres graduaciones tambien de muy buena calidad. Las barras de carboncillo prensado tambien son excelentes. El lápiz de grafito creo que no es de grafito sino tambien de carbon prensado y de una excelente calidad.

I am so pleased with this purchase! Royal is far superior in quality than Generals brand (or even Prismacolor when it comes to charcoal pencils-prisma lead falls out on their charcoal pencils but not their colored ones!) This was one sale for cheaper than 4 sticks of Generals compressed charcoal, but would be worth every penny at full price.I am a disabled veteran and a fulltime student (video game art student but traditional artist as well) at local community college using my GI Bill. I am on a budget and good quality art supplies are not cheap. Brand makes ALL the difference. I didn't realize when I purchased this that it was the full kit with compressed sticks and pencils. I was happily surprised especially at the price. The pencil wood is far superior. It shaves down with exacto (scalpel kind is my fave) perfectly to get the long lead so you can use the side as well as point of pencil WITHOUT the lead breaking or the wood splintering.The seller was amazingly fast at shipping this to my house. I was worried I would have to pay triple at Michaels to finish my midterm project in time but it arrived within 2 days.I will be purchasing here instead from now on.
