There's a different set of teeth to shred CD's and Credit Cards which is a good design as usually shredding CD's etc in the main paper part of electric shredders is what tends to blunt the cutting teeth and work the gears apart, affecting cutting performance. So this design avoids such issues. Some have reviewed to say operation is a little stiff to wind the handle around but this is only because this shredder is geared to cross-shred. It's also turning several separate shredding wheels / teeth; x1 for paper, x1 for CD's and x1 for credit cards, so when you turn the handle there's several things going on at once. Not for heavy duty shredding but great if you just want to shred the odd piece of paper or receipts. The hand crank system seems to work well, saves on electric and I find it very handy not having to find anywhere to plug the device in.
