Review: A great creative way to learn chess through puzzles. - A great creative way to learn chess through puzzles. Review: It Brings Organized Teaching To A Whole New Level - I have many tactics instructionals and puzzle books. Boy did I wish I had this book much earlier in my studies. This book is excellently organized and follows a logical approach to increasing difficulty. I also have the Giannatos book and 1001 Chess Exercises for Beginners. This book is INDISPENSABLE. It is probably in the same pantheon as "Predator at the Chess Board" What makes this book stand out is that it guides the reader/ solver what to look for while solving the puzzles. Basically, it equips the solver with 1. A Thought Process 2. Key Factors/ Elements to look for in a tactical position 3. Patterns of frequently occurring tactics If someone were to pick up a puzzle book for beginners, or to train using online tactics servers, they would have to grope in the dark with 1 and 2. Many books only focus on one or two of the above. However, this book combines all 3 so that the person is definitely stronger upon finishing it. The author even thoughtfully provided bolded text for easy review and flashcards at the end of each chapter to summarize main points. I didn't know this much organization and instructional value could be packed into a tactics book for beginners. Unlike 1001 Chess Exercises for Beginners which is more advanced, this book can be picked up by any level player. It will teach 800 rated players and even 1400 rated players. I will definitely consider buying subsequent books published by this author. Amazing.
