Excellent value for money.
I have been looking for an inexpensive baritone for a little while and have just returned a much more expensive one. Didn't like the sound. I read the preceding two reviews and was encouraged to spend LESS than I would have been inclined to. After all, one usually gets what one pays for... and credit to Amazon, their returns policy is very good. In this case, pleasantly surprised doesn't do this ukulele justice.First an observation regarding packaging.. This ukulele was supplied via Amazon Prime, directly from their warehouse, via their internal courier system, so maybe that explains why there was no protection other than the flimsy cardboard box and a thin foam bag inside. Not too encouraging and absolutely no protection in a busy delivery environment.Open the box and wow! A really nicely constructed ukulele with no flaws that I can see and a satin finish which feels very nice, almost an oiled feel rather than the usual high gloss. Great silky smooth machine heads. Very pleased at this price point.Does it play well? I'm sure it would in other more experienced hands! Sound is so subjective that I would only say that I like it. Please read right through the first review. It is really informative regarding intonation, (which it does need if you habitually play around fret 12 !) ...and ways to sort it out if you are so inclined, as is YouTube.I am left handed so took the strings off to reverse. I would advise purchasing a new set, as the strings supplied, although Aquila, are cut very neatly, which makes reversing something of a pain. Also remember that this string set is re-entrant, so if you wish to go low like me as I like a less 'forward,' sound you'll need a new fourth string anyway. (I hope I got the terms correct!) This is my second baritone and is much the cheaper one..... but better by miles than the first one I bought. At the time of writing, there's only one left in stock... Amazon will need to get some more in for Christmas! It gets five stars from me because it looks good, I wasn't disappointed when I took it out of its' box, I enjoy picking it up, as it feels good. It sounds good - to me, and at this price, I can't fault it. Bargain!

Smart Baritone Ukulele
This is a good looking Baritone Ukulele that represents good value for the forty-odd quid we paid.Baritones are the Big Ukuleles, unless you include the Bass version which is after all, a bass. They are tuned 5 semitones below the popular gCEA tuning (goats can eat anything), and the notes are DGBE (Linear tuning) or dGBE (re-entrant tuning) depending on your preference. This one comes with dGBE strings from Aquila, so the 4th string is only a couple of semitones (=frets) below the 1st string.DGBE is the same tuning as the top four strings of a guitar, so it is a really fine instrument for a guitar player. If a Soprano Uke is like a cheerful boy who makes people smile, then the Baritone is the same cheerful lad, only taller and his voice has broken. The fit and finish is good, with a couple of flaws. It sounds pretty good, plays pretty well and does not cost a lot.So why only four stars?Let's look at the pros and cons...It looks great from a couple of meters away, but when you get closer to ours, there's a 1.5cm blemish on the bridgeThe bridge is still solid, but is not set in the right place for the neck, so intonation at the 12th fret is out of tune - a bit flat. The neck is really good quality, but the fret ends are a bit too sharp, and the action is a bit low for strumming. It's 'fretty'.It is supplied with Aquila strings, a leading brand for ukuleles, but it's sound is still too thin for a baritone. The machine heads are seriously good as is the finish and fit in general. It is very nearly perfect as it is, just a few things to fix.Indeed, all of this is fixable, except for the blemish. I couldn't give this as a gift like that, which is a pity, since that was the idea. So if it's for your own use, if you are happy to tinker a bit and you can't or won't spend out for a n expensive instrument, then I'd recommend it strongly!Fixing things...I'm not a cabinet maker or proper luthier, so the blemish is beyond me. It's a patch of wood where there is missing material, so one can't just sand it down.I used to apply Plastic Wood to this sort of thing in my teens, and the result always looked just like a teenager had applied Plastic Wood to it!The intonation was fixed with a replacement bridge saddle that was thinner and taller than the original - maybe 0.5 mm thinner and 1.5mm taller. This raises the strings to improve the action, and allows the saddle to tilt towards the neck to correct the intonation.Whilst the strings were off, the fingerboard was treated with a natural oil/water emulsion to increase the wood's water content - this should increase the width across the grain, slightly, making the neck fractionally wider. Often, fret ends emerge when an instrument made somewhere moist is exported to a less moist place - although right now it's raining, again! Still worth doing, in my view. Then the fret ends were very carefully polished with wire wool, finally with one of those green abrasive kitchen pads. Carefully polished, because the wood is much easier to remove than the metal fret! A final clean and polish saw the neck emerge in great condition. It's a good neck! The Result...After all this (about three hours) we had a very tasty instrument indeed. The fingerboard is now truly superb, the intonation almost perfect, and the sound (still a bit thin) was no longer fretty. So I stuck the wound 4th string from a set of Martin fluorocarbon Baritone DGBE strings on, to see what happened. It came alive! The Aquila 4th was just too bright to do the job, I reckon. The Martin is a wound string that sounds an octave lower, and that fattened up the sound bigtime. Works well with the three Aquilas too,So, if you can be bothered to do the tinkering, it's a super instrument, and I recommend it to you!PS I'll try some other strings on it and report back in the comments section when I get more time.

Disappointed
When I opened the uke I was suprised at how good it looked given its cost. The action was way too high but fixable, but having tuned it, the body buzzed horribly when playing 2 of the open strings and also on some fretted notes.Whether I just got a bad one I don't know, as without these issues it would have been good value for money and it had a nice tone, but as it was I had to return it as it was unplayable. Left me feeling really disappointed

great price and customer service.
when I first ordered this, it came in a box that had been somewhat battered whilst in transit, and as a result there was a dent in the side which had caused the topboard to come loose, I contacted the seller (who was very helpful) and after a couple of emails a new one was sent. now it has arrived, and it is a really nice instrument, and is fantastic when you consider the price. Looks, sounds and feels great.

good ukulele for the money, but came with wrong strings
for the price, i can't complain about the instrument itself. it's a great, budget baritone ukulele that's built solidly enough. unfortunately, it arrived with the wrong strings, strung in the wrong order (they were strings for a much smaller ukulele, strung with the highest pitched string on the top). This meant I had to order some new strings & restring it, which as you may know, is a pain the backside. So, for that, it loses a couple of stars.

Can't beat it for value for money
I wasn't sure if I'd get on with a baritone so couldn't justify spending a lot of money, this fits the bill perfectly. Low cost, great build quality, low action out of the box and quite loud. I can experiment with different tunings and string combinations without worrying that I might damage an expensive instrument. The tone won't be as good as a solid top but It will do me for a good while yet.

Bariton Ukulele
Ein schöne Instrument. Leider klingen einige gegriffene Töne dumpf und klanglos. Ungegriffen ist alles bestens. Trotzdem habe ich das Instrument behalten
