Pencil & Paper Games (Tear-Off Pads): 1

Some excellent game ideas that can be easily replicated (and even embellished) on plain paper once the book has been used. Until now I haven't spent much time playing paper-based games with my son, but this book has inspired me and even made me realise how some can be changed to incorporate simple ruler use, creative drawing as well as counting.

Bought this for my 11 year old daughter to entertain her on a long flight. I hoped we might get 10-15 minutes distraction a couple of times during the flight... but I seriously underestimated this book! It’s beautifully made and illustrated. There are lots of different games to choose from and multiple copies of each game (approx 10) so if you get really into a game you can play again and again! The games range in difficulty - my daughter understood and enjoyed all the ones we tried, some were easy and just pure fun, others were more complex and requires more thought/ strategy. Being able to tear out completed pages is a great idea too - you can see at a glance what you have left instead of having to search for blank pages. My only suggestion would be to have the instructions on fixed pages at the beginning - a couple of times we tore out a finished sheet only to realize we had now lost be instructions as well. All in all a fantastic item and excellent value for money.

This is such a great idea. A book of fun games and puzzles to keep children occupied on long journeys. The pages rip out easily so you can quickly discard the used games. If you're looking for a way to occupy kids that's screen free, try this! I'm happy with the quality and value for money.

Great book for engaging with kids and creating fun away from screen time. Bought for my 8 year old son for a caravan holiday. He’s a big gamer but loved getting stuck into the paper games in this book. It’s pleasant to look at with loads of puzzle pages so you don’t even have to remember paper.

The book is smaller than I thought which is my fault for not reading properly however it has tear out pages making it easier to play the games. There are instructions for each activity and it’s nice and clear. The design of each game is great and eye catching which is good for keeping little peoples attention. This has been a great addition for getting our small person doing some logical thinking and maths without realising.

Décevant, je m'attendais à plus de jeux expliqués. 80-90% des pages du livre sont consacrées à des grilles/tableaux/damiers pour jouer. Bref : une page pour expliquer le morpion, et 8-10 pages de grilles vides.
