Not bad but not as advertised
Received package with some damage to one corner of the case. Opened to find it was a copy and not an original. It runs fine though

I adore the voice of Mr. Phipps but this dvd lacked the "presence" of the depth of slave songs. It seemed like the Shirley Temple version of slavery - light hearted,void of the heart-wrenching pain which is poured out in slave songs. The cruelty, the selling of parents away from their children, the mutilations, the lynchings.This needed the genius of maestro Allen Foster & Frank B. Mitchell of the Philadelphia Opera Co. to recreate the spirit of the slave who have a more creative license than Mr. Phipps does with the Grahams.

America History-Negro Spirituals Priceless
Wintley is not only very talented but this music video is a history lesson in Negro Spirituals which affect every person of Faith. African Americans, like Jews and every Europeon group have helped build the amazing fabric that is America. The courage and sacrifice of the slaves is something to be celebrated more than be ashamed of.

Wintley Phipps Spirituals: A Symphonic Celebration
Very nice music but a bit sterile; I think that in many of his other titles (e.g. The Classics ) he comes across with more feeling. It's a lot like a Studio recording vs. a Live recording.

A truly Magical Voice
If you have never heard of Whitney Phipps, it is high time you did. When he sings "Amazing Grace" it's if he were there during the humming and writing of the words. It is a breathtaking piece to witness on You Tube.

his voice is off the charts. Such an amazing man of God. I listen to his CDas I travel back and forth to work. Puts you in a right frame of mind.

Wintley Phipps is an excellent singer. His voice and music is for all nations. My family and friends enjoy him so much. We have everything that he has ever recorded. This was a great buy.
