Actually made things worse when used in the washing machine. Rit throws good money after bad
My favourite white bath towels became an insipid green when a cheap tea towel got into the wash. Rit made things worse and was a total waste of money.I followed the instructions for using a front-loading washing machine. I used 2 packs of Rit for 2 bath towels (small load) ran the hottest cotton wash.Whilst the dye has marginally lessened overall (now a chewing gum grey/green) it's far from a win because there's now very obvious dirty dark green stains and streaks scattered across the towels. I can only assume this where the towels reabsorbed the dye. These dark green stains are actually more concentrated areas of colour than existed before. If Rit worked 2 packs of dye would have been cheaper than replacing the towels. If I were judging the amount of dye that has been removed I'd say it would take another 2-4 packs to remove all the offending dye from the towels. However, there's no point in even attempting this if the towels reabsorb the dye in streaks in a washing machine.Rit might work on the stove, but not in the washing machine. It also stinks even if you do ventilate.

Rit colour remover
Rit products are generally very good and are my goto dye brand. The colour/stain remover I found didn't work as well as expected. The item I needed to remove colour and stairs from wasn't any bigger than a sock. The result looked good while in the solution turning a bleached colour fairly soon. However, once removed and washed out the colour or at least a pale version of it started to return. On the upside the detail stitching remained black unlike when I bleached a similar item, where the detail stitching faded from black to a silver/grey colour.I did however find it was good for a colour fade, I dyed an item which I decided was too coloured but after 40 minutes in the solution it faded to a more accurate colour.Though the item was freshly dyed with rit dye, colour and stain remove had minimum effect

It works fabulously on cotton.
Did exactly what I needed it to do. Had a dress that I love(fits perfectly and it has POCKETSSSSSS) and wished it came in other colours, alas it did not. The dress came on sale so decided to buy another one and give this a go. Followed instructions to the letter, it was quite laborious stirring a big pot of boiling water, at first wasn't convinced, even at the end of the 20 mins but after rinsing etc it was very pale so went for the dye. Beyond happy with the result and may buy a couple more and treat myself to the rainbow. NB this dress is full cotton/muslin but the tread is synthetic blend but it still came out well. Picture collage is original green, Rit colour removed then Dylon Tulip Red 'machine all in one'.

It doesn’t work on all fibres
It was super easy to use, however it only lifted my curtains slightly, my curtains are a cotton and silk blend.

Didn’t really work
I had a pair and of black cotton trousers that I wanted to strip the colour from in order to dye navy blue. I suppose black is probably the hardest colour to get out - but this product had very little success. They seemed perhaps a little more faded afterward. Not very successful!
