Review: Brilliant product for my Welsh slate water feature - I have read quite a few negative reviews, but thought I would try it - I paid £13 odd for 5 litres, so not expensive.I tried it on the smallest bit of slate first, to make sure it wouldn’t damage it as some people have said their paving got stained. The results speak for themselves- look at my before and after pics - years of calcified water deposits were removed from a second hand water feature - it was a bit of a labour of love and the build up needed a few goes, but I did it with one 5 litre container. This is my method: I painted it on the first time, then pressure washed off after a few hours- removed some but not all of the salts, so repeated a few times over the week Smaller bits of slate were submerged in a bucket. Finally, with the awkward bits, I soaked kitchen roll in salt away, and packed it around and into the awkward areas - covered it in plastic bags to keep it moist over night, and again pressure washed off, and that worked a treat - I maybe should have done that earlier. This product is made of Citric acid and water according to the packaging - NOT ammonia as stated in the listing. Whatever its made from, I recommend it, but you do need to put in a bit of time and effort.
Review: Did not work at all - Used the entire container, did not make any difference at all. Followed instructions, not even a large area, no difference from before at all.

**Q: Can it be painted over when dry**
A: Hi. You would wash the Salt Away from the surface as part of the process anyway so the surface it has been used on would be just as paintable as it was prior to application.

**Q: Hi does this product come with a spray nozzle?**
A: Depends how you buy it.  It's available in a spray bottle (which must have a nozzle) or a 5 litre can.  AFAIK the 5 litre can doesn't come with a sprayer, just use an empty de-icer spray bottle or apply by brush or dip.

**Q: Can this be used to remove salt deposits on powder coated railings and gates? Or will it damage the powder coat finish?**
A: Hi. This is just for removing salts from mineral substrates unfortunately.

**Q: I have white salts coming through the walls of a basement room around knee to waist height. The walls don't seem damp. Will this stop the salts?**
A: This product may help stop the salts but this might only be a short-term solution. If it's a basement the damp might be more than on the surface, even if the walls don't feel damp. Worth a try, though.

Bought due to patio having salt deposits all over it, apparently the extreme weather conditions this year have effected a lot of paving during manufacture, this is £10 cheaper than the local builders Merchant, given 4 stars as have used but waiting for final result, pavers have lightened and a lot of salt came out but after the heavy rains it's just watch and see, hopefully it's worked- Hint - easier to brush on as a spray leaves spot mark's, and it leaves a stick residue so be careful to remove any plant pots etc, wear protective gloves and ensure arms and legs are covered and wear wellies.
