Can a 2 year old enjoy this game? Playing with another 2 year old?

YES! A 2 years old is just the age for this game as long as he/she is not prone to putting things in his/her mouth. Both of my sons enjoyed this at two and still at 5 as well as many friends and cousins at that age.

Is the quality really as bad as the reviews say? I have such fond childhood memories of this game 😩 I want to get it for my own kids now.

Yes. It really is THAT BAD. I hate that I paid $20.99 on this game 2 days ago. It's so cheaply made compared to the one I had as a child. In our case, the hippo heads don't want to lift up to eat the marbles. The marble launchers shoot the balls everywhere except into the main area. The base isn't anywhere close to being flat and hitting the hippo trails really hurts small hands. Please don't buy it. The quality really is that bad.

What diameter are the marbles? I'd like to buy the game and replace the cheap plastic ones with better quality marbles. Thanks

They are slightly over a 1/2 inch (more precisely 9/16). We have another game that uses regular marbles and we've tried them with the hippos game but they're too big. They get stuck in the hippo's throat and don't empty out into the tray. The cheap marbles really aren't all that bad (but there is a lack of them), it's the hippos that don't work well and the entire game is so cheap and light that it doesn't stay put when you have a bunch of kids pounding on the hippos.

How to unlock the tails from down position?

Check for something blocking the levers on the bottom of game. If nothings blocking .. either call the company help desk or get a replacement
