Zakka Embroidery: Simple One- and Two-Color Embroidery Motifs and Small Crafts (Make Good: Japanese Craft Style)

I don’t think I have done any embroidery since I was at school, but I love textile arts and thought I would take a look at this book. These are good, simple, modern designs and ever since I bought the book I have been itching to see whether I still like doing embroidery. I have made one item, and it looks good, a beret I look forward to wearing. I cannot wait to start some of the other projects, or apply these designs to clothing or household items, the possibilities are endless.

A big change from twee regular embroidery books, lots of great design ideas.

I love this book, its even better than I expected. I've got other embroidery books by Japanese designers and they never fail to produce exquisite designs. I'm looking forward to trying the designs out in this book. As the motifs are small I think they are good for beginners as well as the more experienced who perhaps haven't done any embroidery for a while.

I had lost the original copy and I liked it so much that I wanted to replace it. The designs on the whole are simple. The idea of using a limited colour palette when choosing the threads makes it easier to concentrate without getting too concerned about what areas need different colours.

Good little ideas book for simple projects......easy to follow.

Beautiful, simple and unusual patterns. Helpful instructions and hints . Photocopiable templates. Very prompt delivery. Excited to try out the designs.

This is the best embroidery book I've bought for a long time. Although it is small the Full size embroidery patterns are lovely. A large variety of Scandinavian inspired designs and whales too! Lots of designs that I will use and also has the patterns for pouches, gift bags etc but these are not full scale.

Glad I bought this book. The designs are small, simple and elegant - creatively displayed in the first half of the book, with full sized patterns at the back.The designs are simple enough for a beginner who has practiced the stitches. The simple embroidery stitches may be learned best through a tutorial online as it's often difficult to convey (and learn) sewing through still photos and text.
