Yes once you have added Apple Health in the Omron Connect app. You only need to do this once.

Is this british hypertension society (bhs) approved?

Yes it is on their list of Approved for Home use https://bihsoc.org/bp-monitors/for-home-use/

How often does it need to be recalibrated?

The details are in their website. They state it depends on the Amount of use. 2 years for personal use and 1 year clinical settings. I have no intention of having mine recalibrated unless it starts playing up. Even then would just buy a new one. The advise seems like CYA to me.
