Used for 2 years and still going strong
This is a robust toy which requires no batteries or refills, it is suitable for boys or girls. The screen is a kind of grey colour and using either the attached pen or the stamps that come with it, you can create all sorts of pictures, though only in black (you can't draw in colour). You clear the screen by pulling down the blue slider at the side. As your child gets older it can also be used for practising writing or for games such as naughts and crosses or hangman - it is really versatile and great for use on car journeys. My 3 year old has had his megasketcher for about 2 years now and it's still used almost daily. The screen is almost as new with only a couple of small dents where it looks like he has pressed down too hard, it still works perfectly. Edit: April 2012. Well I am sad to say our original megasketcher finally broke. When you clear the screen you pull down the blue slider which is attached to a strip of plastic underneath. The strip of plastic needs to move freely down and up, but children have a tendency to put a hand on the screen as they pull the slider which, in our case, resulted in the strip of plastic snapping off rendering the whole thing useless. Since it was a much loved toy, I bought another exactly the same and I am really glad I did as if anything it gets used even more than the first one. My son has recently started learning to write a few words and the megasketcher has been fantastic. We have saved countless sheets of paper and my son gets to practice writing as much as he likes and there are no pens left lying around for his baby sister to find and cause havoc with!

One of the better Sketchers
This is a great size sketcher, I brought is for my then 2 year old and it's lasted so well. 3 years later and another child and it survived until it got jumped on while it was not laying flat! The magnetic pieces you get clip in really well so do not fall out and the shapes look exactly like they are supposed to. The pen is nice and strong, well made and thin tip which allows good drawing. The string was a bit shorter than I expected but it did not effect use. The eraser works well, and clears all of the drawing on it. The sketcher is a good size for carrying, by myself and my children. One of the better sketchers I have purchased and would recommend for any parents out there wanting a strong reliable one.

Years of fun.
My son has owned one of these for about six years. I am buying a new one because the children have used it so much that the nib on the pen is a bit worn and makes a scratchy sound (which I hate) and the screen is a bit loose and you have to press it down when trying to erase a picture. This is all reasonable wear and tear through constant use and I'm happy to replace it with a new one knowing that it will last for another few years. The screen is approximately 30cm wide and 18cm deep and the children enjoy drawing pictures on it and practising their letter formation and writing. I've even given them sums to do on it and there is no paper waste.

lots of fun
This gives children an easy and fun way to show off their creative skills. They love to show you what they've drawn. This gives hours of entertainment without electronics or batteries. Erases clean and takes a lot of heavy handling. This is a very well made drawing tablet and not one of those cheap brands out there. The shapes are easy to use and store safely in place so they don't get lost. Great for teaching young children their A B C's. They love to learn to write on it too. Highly recommended and at a great price. The built in handle allows it to be carried easily and it's even great to use on long car trips.

Great for Longevity
I bought the MegaSketcher in 2007 when my daughters were 3 and new born for £9.74. This toy is still played with (they are now 7 and 5 yrs!). From their first tentative scribbles to full blown works of art. My youngest now uses it for practising letter formations and writing her own little stories...which I'm sure mean something to her! My eldest uses it as a form of communication, I quite often find little messages left on it by her when I tuck her in last thing at night. They don't necessarily play with it constantly but return to it time and time again. I thought it was a bargain 5 years ago but it certainly has stood the test of time and for that, it makes it difficult to beat. A good lasting buy - highly recommended.

Good and sturdy
This has been used for the last 3 years by 2 of my sons. It is well made unlike others on the market. It has been subjected to lots of toddler violence and it hasn’t broken. The kids find it really entertaining and have played with it lots. My older son loves drawing so this allows him to create countless masterpieces without going through reams of paper. My only gripe which has annoyed me for the last 3 years - the stampers are great, work well.. but they do not slot into the holders at all. They constantly fall out and they get lost really easily. It’s a shame as my sons like playing with them but it’s hard to keep the whole thing together. Other than that, it’s a great item. It’s lasted for 3 years, my sons still love using it.

Just pick up and play
Remember this as a kid? It's funny how despite new technological innovations and products, some classics still survive and thrive. For budding little artists and little kids who just enjoy a scribble, this is a toy that will keep them occupied for ages. No batteries to charge, no instructions to read, no supervison required. Simple and easy to draw with the attached stylus, a quick swipe with the button and you're left with a clean slate. Intuitive and easy fto play with for kids, not many movable parts, making it it robust and longer lasting. Big play area and sturdy enough to take a hammering, but light enough to hold ( handle helps with portability) and use for little hands. It's a deceptively simple toy but the reason why it persists, is because it very good at what it does and kids enjoy drawing with it and developing their imagination. You could spend a lot more money on toys that become rarely used and disguarded, but kids ( and adults!) will always be drawn ( no pun intended)) to this

Top 2 desert island toy
1) This is a must-have toy. If I had to choose "toys for a desert island" for my two children, the first on the list would be a box of Legos, but this is definitely the second choice. Must have taken at least a hundred hours of use and is still going strong but... 2) The erasing mechanism is not the best out of the box. It's hard for a 2-year-old or younger to pull for himself and it is very noisy in bad way. One reviewer noted that his/her child was actually scared of the noise, and I can surely understand why. Also some reviews note that one pull doesn't always clear the board. However, this is really easy to fix! On the back of the product there are a few screws that are simple to open with a precision screwdriver, then lift up the blue plastic part on the back covering the side with the mechanism (no need to worry about braking anything) and after that you can just take out the motor that is causing the noise. Now your Megasketcher is silent and can be operated simply by pushing and pulling the eraser handle yourself. While clearing the board now requires several passes, my 1,5-year-old found this method to be much easier. If you're having trouble, try this out, and if you don't like it, just put the motor back.
