Excellent rich black ink ideal for Pelikan and other 'dry' pens; bargain price
Purchased to replace a fast emptying 30ml bottle. The product illustration and description are in apparent conflict. This is the bottled ink and not a pack of cartridges and also supplied in the larger 62.5ml size; 30ml is standard."PELIKAN 329144 Ink Cartridge" (as incorrectly described) is a black ink from within their 4001 range; they also have a more expensive Edelstein range of 'luxury' inks that includes some different colours. There are about eight colours within the 4001 range and they are fairly routine; the lighter tones of blue, green and the yellow-orange group are wholly absent. The entire range is regarded as slow-flowing or 'dry' and consequently an excellent match to their own range of fountain pens which are considered to be very wet writers regardless of nib grades. As most major Western brand pens (Parker, Waterman, Sheaffer, Cross) are also regarded as 'wet', Pelikan's inks could be a very good match to any of them. The black ink is very intense, a 'solid' colour that does not show any transparency as may be experienced with many other black inks. It has worked very well in a number of pens fitted with Medium and Broad nibs when it creates high visual contrast. It isn't too fussy about paper quality and will work equally effectively on cheap copy paper as on expensive 'fountain pen' paper. The only time it did not work well was when briefly used in a Fine-nibbed Pilot Capless as it was probably too viscous for the narrow nib; a lighter and relatively wet ink worked far better in that instance but poor nib adjustment may have been a contributing cause. Drying time will normally be around ten seconds.Because of its intense tone, it may be worth running a spot check with a paper for any bleed-through from the writing side although it has not been a frequent issue; thin papers are most susceptible. Feathering has not been encountered. Pelikan 4001 inks are widely available online from several suppliers and from specialist dealers in the high street.Because of its depth of tone, the ink is ideal for use where photocopying will or may be required. It could be an everyday ink for personal and business use although it may be too dark and too formal were it considered for party invitations, greetings cards etc. Because of its dry nature, it cannot be recommended for use in any pen that is also considered 'dry' as the rate of ink-flow is likely to be too low; that is its only practical restriction.A first-class dry ink at a reasonable price, especially with this offer which is about a third below normal retail!

A beautiful quality ink
This ink is such good quality and flows with an even result. Not at all watery. I also have the turquoise ink. Both superb.

A beautiful color.
I like the purple color of this ink. The bottle has a very practical shape as it can stand slanted when when you fill the pen when the bottle is nearly empty. The price and the availability is also very good. I use it in one of my Woldworth & Bläck pens and it has been a very good combination.

Great ink
This is Pelikan ink which I use in a Pelikan pen - so there should be no problems. And there aren't. It writes smoothly, slightly on the wet side, but it dries fairly quickly and I'm very happy with it.

The best ink for vintage pens. (sorry Quink)
The decision of Sheaffer to discontinue the Skrip line left me scrambling to find replacements. I use all kinds of black inks in my pens, from Kaweco, Pilot, Sailor (I quite love Gentle Black), Platinum (carbon black is another favorite), Monteverde . et al.. But Sheaffer had a very special place on my shelf. It was THE black ink that i used in any pen, regardless of vintage or how long i was planning on leaving it in there. I knew it would flow easily, wash out easily and give me a dark black line. I've used it since i was a boy in old Sheaffer pens, from the mid90s flat top range (which were the first such pens i used), to Parkers, Vintage pens of all kinds. I've just never had trouble with this ink. I never was easily able to find a replacement. Parker Quink Black is a very easy ink to clean but is not terribly dark, even as it is very wet. Herbin Perle is gorgeous but i find it tends to dry out very quickly and it is so saturated, i try to use it very quickly in vintage pens. Pelikan, i initially bought to use in pens that have noticeable nib creep, but it is such a phenomenal ink, I've just switched bit by bit, to using it in everything. It isn't as dry an ink as i assumed it would be; nevertheless, in pens with very light flow, i find this ink actually shades up a bit. It's super dark, matte-black normally. It writes smoothly in every pen i've tried. Funnily, Pelikan Blue-Black has taken Skrip Blue-Black's place on my shelf as well. It's every bit as good (if not better). I should mention waterfastness, or "bulletproofness" is not something i typically look for in an ink. I don't care in the slightest for such properties - I actively seek inks that don't have these properties - i just use these inks as daily writers, and so weigh my opinions accordingly. For anyone with a vintage pen collection trying to avoid more alkaline Japanese inks and looking for a nice dark black which won't dry out in a sac or aerometric convertor, this is really the first (and maybe only) ink you should need.

Boa tinta
Chegou no prazo indicado e bem embalada. Sem problemas
