It's not for finding lost keys in a yard, buried treasure or coins, etc. It is for pinpointing them in a shovel full of dirt and the like. This pin pointer is an excellent tool, but it's important to clarify that it is not a metal detector. Unlike a metal detector, which is designed to locate metal objects buried underground, this device is specifically meant for pinpointing the exact location of a target once it has been identified. When you bring the tip of the pin pointer close to your target, it provides rapid vibrations and sound alerts, indicating that you're very close to the object. Before making my purchase, I watched several videos on how to enhance the detection range of similar pin pointers. However, I believe that increasing the range is unnecessary for most users. The primary goal is to determine the precise location of the target, rather than just knowing it's a few inches away. In my opinion, many of the lower reviews for this device may stem from user error or unrealistic expectations about its capabilities. When used as intended, the pin pointer performs admirably. The build quality is robust, and the sound is loud enough to be easily heard. Its bright orange color makes it highly visible reducing the chances of misplacing it (I added shrink tubing as a customization). However, if you're considering this device as a flashlight, you will be disappointed. Its strength lies in its pinpointing ability, and it excels in that regard.
