Alluring Historic Indigo
Great historical coverage of the development, use and the world passion with the natural dye, indigo. Good illustrations and informative passages presented in an interesting format. I am new to natural dyeing and I am fascinated by this amazingly different and attractive dye which has such an alluring history.

THE COLOUR THAT DOESN'T EXIST
Sir Isaac Newton described indigo in spectrography as a color between the purples and the blues. More recent studies found out indigo falls either into onw of these two categories, being indigo itself a sort of unstable, non existing hue. This book is comprehensive and well documented by maps, pictures and interesting material. I would suggest this book to students interested in the history of colors but also to anyone with an appetite for random bits of culture and keen to mindtravel.Carlo Muttoni

Five stars
As an indigo practitioner I can't recommend this book enough. It takes you through this fascinating subject with ease, making it a very pleasant read supported by great images. If you have an interest in indigo you probably will keep coming back to it.

Fascinating subject but writing doesn't flow
I asked for this book and its sequel for a gift. The subject is fascinating but I can't enjoy the book as I can't get past the author's rather stuffy academic style of writing. I will keep trying but just getting through the first chapter was a chore.
