Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Game of the Year Edition (PC)

At first I was put off buying this occasional "arab killing shootem up" as the western foreign record in the middle east is not exactly exemplary. For example, the British and American orchestrated coup that overthrew the democratically elected government of Iran in 1953. Yes oil again. Having said that, this game is not political but more about the experiences of the "boots on the ground" and truly gives you a new respect for the soldiers sent to similar conflict zones because the gameplay is breathtakingly intense and realistic. So realistic that often it appears "photographic". The checkpoint saves are not a problem either as it always takes you to a point very near where you were killed. The graphics are often beautifully realistic and its important to slow down sometimes and just admire the scenery. The characters voices are well done and never corny. Also there are occasional moments of genuine humour. I laughed at being called the FNG. (look it up!) The helicopter attack in "Charlie don't surf" is genuinely awesome. Game of the year? More likely the game of the decade. Treat yourself - you wont regret it.

I would give 3.5 really and apart from one really ... lets just say annoying bit that had me leave it alone for months on end it is very good for what is an old game. However the fact that many say that this is a fantastic title and none since have bettered it will make me stay away from all the ofther Call of Duty titles and as the last time I was into gaming I had the very first two titles and loved them I cannot believe I have typed that out! So a sure fire way of showing you how gredy exexcutives will just milk you for money and yet depsite so many people saying this it does not stop them from splashing the cash and getting burned yet again, except for me who wont be buying Dragon Age Inquisition like I planned because magazines lied about the game along with several other titles. However if others really want to stop them from doing it the only way is for really and truly to stop giving them your money! Do not buy it and then say all the things I have done because I would say 'well more fool you!' Also all this microtransactions and pay to win...no idiots, its NOT the way its going, its just the way you want it to go because getting paid large sums of money for crap is not good enough for you. Funny as the last thing I remember is when I am out buying coffee tables I do not walking into a store and see a three legged one for the same money as a four legged one! I do not say "Oi, treacle?! Why is that 3 legged table the same price as a 4 legged one?!" and they answer "Well I am a professional coffee table maker and it took me as long to make the 3 legged one as the 4 legged on and so I expect the ame amount of money for my time!!"?! However that seems to be the attitudes of many game coders and publishers and many out there are letting them get away with it and then thinking thats OK because I whined about it afterwards?! lol. Or in other words I actually thought Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare was going to be good. Like Dragon Age's latest the reviewers even said it was good. Turns out that the reviews are very suspect looking yet agian despite the prices of the magazines being more than many novels?! Crikey! Lol!

Very short game. Played on regular done in about 5 hours. Lasts longer on hardened, but only because the AI makes a bead on you like crazy. Story is rather silly in some ways, especially when you end in some Russian back lands clearing out Russian rebels. the thought that kept going through my mind was, `I`m in a Russian nuclear silo- What the hell are the normal Russian authorities doing about it?` It`s as if Russia just said, "Yea, sure, just walk into our territory and do what you like US and Brits!" Turn it the other way and it would be like the Russian Spetsnatz walking into Alaska to kill American ultra-terrorists while the Americans just sat and watched! The sniper part of the game was quite good though. Weapons are real world and the graphics and animations all hold well even today in 2015. Sound effects top notch. Immersive once fighting gets underway. But short, so short. NO Steam or annoying DRM just a code. Gets an extra star for that!

Not bad, but dated by the time I got it but enjoyed it none the less as I do with all the call of duty games. Not sure I can recommend it at this age but maybe if it's a bargain it's worth a go.

Awesome game!! I still consider it the best shoot 'em up game and I still play it. Although it's an old game I still play it online and there are plenty of people in the servers so you can always play it. Single player is awesome with very good story and plot!! Excellent choice!

Terrible absolutely terrible and i will tell you why. Did not work on my sons computer, took ages to download on the computer and when it did it said that it could not loacte the original disk, HOW ON EARTH COULD IT NOT LOCATE THE ORIGINAL DISK. Froze in the middle of the downloading process and not only that but it also slowed down his laptop which is relitivly new. Just buy your child a console game (Xbox game, PS4, Nintendo Ds ect...) Dont buy a pc game, it sucks and will mess up your computer!!!
