Shocked
I purchased the wrong one, as I need the PS2 for the smaller tank, but I was impressed by the size of this skimmer for the price. As with any piece of equipment and basing my review on the PS2, protein skimmers do make aerated sounds, that is what makes them work. They take time to settle in and calibrate to your system. So yes, you mig be adjusting the controls and air intake for a week or so, but I am happy with mine and it skims sufficiently to sustain my little reef.

Good little skimmer.
Bought for my 55ltr nano tank, which it just fits. Nice and quiet, skims a treat, so all in all a good purchase.

Unfortunately this is a poor protein skimmer
Unfortunately this is a poor protein skimmer, from what could be considered a very reputable brand. After tweaking with the air flow rate (after receiving a replacement air valve from Fluval warranty) and a break in period, I did manage to get *some* skimming happen for about 2 weeks. But then the motor completely stopped working.Whilst it was working the skimming was OK, albeit very noisy. I would suggest looking at some of the more reputable, better built and quieter alternatives.I got it included with a Fluval M90 reef tank set, which is fortunate because if I'd have bought it separately I'd be furious.

Good. But a pain
This skimmer does what it's supposed to do and does it effectively. The only thing I've noticed apart from it being quite noises the amount of micro bubbles it lets off into the tank. This eventually stopped but then started again when I cleaned the unit. Makes the water look cloudy. You can use filter socks/pads to limit this and stop it happening but should you have to?
