How much do I need of this to cover a fender strat body?

It all depends on the quality of the preparation and the colour/finish you need. I sprayed a Gibson Grabber bass body in opaque black with no undercoat. The first can covered the body, the second and third built up the finish so it was lovely and smooth. Rubbed down with 800 grit between every third of fourth coat, just to keep it smooth. Leave the whole thing to dry for at least 10 days, then finished with 1500grit, 3000 grit, 5000 grit, and finally with G10 paste and it looks fabulous!So at a guess, I'd reckon on 3-4 cans for an opaque (solid) colour, maybe 3 for a translucent colour. I didn't overspray with a clear coat, I managed to get the finish I wanted with the colour coats. I don't think Fender clear coat their bodies, I know that Gibson do.Best of luck!

What is the finish on this if left unpolished - gloss, semi-gloss, satin or matt?

It dries to a semi-gloss, and can be taken to a high gloss with polishing. Kind Regards, Simon
