Natures Aid L-Lysine 1000mg – High Strength Essential Amino Acid – Supports Immune System, Muscle Recovery, Collagen, Bone Health & Energy – Vegan, Gluten-Free - 60 Tablets

I decided to write this review for the benefit of others thinking of purchasing it. I purchased this along with MSM (also made by Nature’s Aid and sold by Amazon) for my hair, since there is published research (conducted on humans) confirming benefits for hair growth and thickness (check it out!). Hair is a massive thing for me, and I always look after it. Before purchasing, I checked the reviews to see if anyone mentioned hair. They didn’t, but cold sores were repeatedly mentioned. This intrigued me, I occasionally get them, they can be quite nasty, and I have tried all the usual creams, patches etc. I have only been taking L-lysine (one per day) for about 6 days, when I woke up with what promised to be a HUGE cold sore. Except this was different. I had not noticed a tingle in the night as I had slept well, AND importantly, whilst there was a swelling, there was no sign of blisters forming. This is VERY significant, because it’s the horrid blister and scabbing that make for cold sores being so miserable. Also, pain was significantly reduced, especially given the huge size of it. I had read that with a cold sore outbreak, take 3 of these tablets (otherwise, only take one). So I immediately took three tablets. I write this the very next day, and the cold sore is massively improved, with only a faint red mark visible on my lip, a tiny amount of swelling and no blisters I have now learned that you should ideally take the three tablets at a dose of one tablet, 3 times daily rather than take them all at once. If you can, also take them with zinc and vitamin C, that is the recommendation. So that is what I will do today. These tablets are horse tablets, it’s true. However, it’s easily dealt with. I crush mine in a pestle and mortar, and pour the crushed tablet onto a desert spoon of natural yoghurt, so that I can eat it quickly and all in one go. Otherwise, eat it with a little bread and butter. It’s not delicious, but it’s perfectly acceptable like that, and well, well worth it, in my view, for the benefits. I was intrigued to note that another reviewer has checked the origin of manufacture (with companies house etc) in order to be confident in the ingredient and manufacturing safety. I also do this, and I think it’s very good advice! I think it is very important, because product safety matters, and I want to be sure. There is no point buying something for its health benefits if the product is not really what it appears to be. Nature’s Aid is therefore also one of my go-to brands, and product safety is a key reason. In summary, I have found these L-lysine tablets to be very, very effective, and therefore, good value for money. So, in summary, if you get a cold sore out break, take one of these tablets three times daily during the outbreak, ideally with zinc and a vitamin c tablet (mostly for vitamin C, I tend to eat a bit more fruit instead). Otherwise, take just one tablet per day. Do not take three tablets daily for the long term. The advice is, also, do NOT take if you are pregnant or breast feeding (not because it’s definitely unsafe, but because it hasn’t been researched and checked for safety during pregnancy). Hope this helps someone. As an added tip, if you get a cold sore out break, also keep it well moisturised with a regular application of lip balm containing vitamin E. At night, if I have a cold sore, I also apply an extra thick layer before going to bed. Obviously, have a jar of lip balm rather than using a stick, as it’s easier and more hygienic. You can use a cotton bud to apply the balm.

I’ve been taking these for a couple of years now and swear by them to reduce cold sore attacks. Although they are quite large, they are tasteless. Really pleased!

The tablets are easy to swallow if you take them with a good mouthful of water, and I haven’t experienced any side effects. The quality feels very good and the strength is great value for money.

I've been using Nature's aid supplements for several years. Compared to many other other brands I've taken, they're high quality and do the job. They're made in the UK by a serious, established company to GMP standards, which is essential for me. I make this point because when I was looking at supplements for my latest order, I researched a couple of the cheaper products. Company address and accounts at Companies' House (public domain). For example, one of the brands on here looks very stylishly packaged and there are persuasive claims about the supplements in that range. I couldn't get to the bottom of where they were made ...So I went hunting. Turns out that the 'company' has one employee at an obvious home address and a balance of + c.£1000 on his 'company's' statement to Companies House! Looks like the guy's running a small import business from his bedroom and who knows where he's getting his products from... Have to say I was rather concerned. When it comes to our health, I believe we really do need to take care about what we put in our bodies! (I hope my research is useful for buyers here.) So, 90% of my supplements continue to come from Nature's aid! I take HALF a tab of Lysine at bedtime several times a week. For one thing I'd read that it's effective if you have sleep problems and I can definitely confirm that. It also helps to lessen the effects of stress apparently. It's also claimed to help lower blood pressure. Secondly, research shows that it's effective against most viral infections. After a couple of bouts of Covid my immune system was battered and I found I was picking up a lot of minor colds. I believe that this supplement has at least reduced the length of any infection I get -and probably seen off most infections altogether. The third thing is that my protein intake is on the low side so I reckon that Lysine is a good addition. I would have given Nature's Aid Lysine 5 stars except that the tablets are crazy big and difficult to swallow. So that's why I chop them in half. Bit of a faf. . C'mon Nature's Aid! You can fix this!

Quite a large tablet but didn't cause any issues in swallowing. No after taste. Bought as part of an immune system build up.

I woke up yesterday to the familiar feeling of a tingling lip and looked in the mirror to see a big, swollen blistery mess. I have previously taken L-lysine but haven't taken it for a while and couldn't find my them. So just crossed my fingers and hoped this was as bad as it would get. This morning it had grown and was so painful. I ordered these along with a few other items to ensure I'd get them today ~ they arrived at 6pm, I immediately took two - I had to cut them up because like the other ones I had- they're BIG. It is now 1am and the swelling has Gone and the blistering is almost flat and there is no pain at all. I just wish they weren't so big. Other than that, I forgot how much of a "life saver" they are for cold sores. I definitely recommend.

Très bon produit

Ein super Produkt, welches mir wirklich gut gegen Herpes hilft. Beim kleinsten ziehen oder kribbeln nehm ich sofort eine Tablette, und meiste kommt gar nix.... Und wenn doch, nur minimal und ist ganz schnell wieder weg... Nachdem ich mir immer lyranda gekauft habe suchte ich nach einer preiswerteren Alternative, denn 10 Tabletten für ca. 10€ bei 3 Tbl. Pro Tag war mir auf Dauer einfach zu viel.... Kann die Tabletten nur empfehlen, bloß sollte man keine Probleme beim tablettenschlucken habe, sonst ist es unmöglich die Tabletten zu nehmen, da diese noch größer sind als manche Antibiotika ;)

Usato per herpes e per ora devo dire che funziona

Ich bin so glücklich, dieses Produkt entdeckt zu haben! Ich bekomme leider in letzter zu oft (zwei mal in einem Monat) Herpes an den Lippen und mein Arzt meinte, es läge am schwachen Immunsystem und Stress. Nach eigener Recherche bin ich auf Lysin aufmerksam geworden. Neben VitaminC+Zink Tabletten nehme ich diese auch täglich ein. Ich habe dennoch ein Herpes bekommen. Am selben Tag habe ich gleich 3 Tabletten auf einmal genommen (zur Kur kann man bis 3000 mg pro Tag Lysin einnehmen). Schon am nächsten Tag war der Herpes fast WEG! Gar keine Schwellung mehr, es ist nur noch ein kleines kaum erkennbares Bläschen übrig. Ich bin sehr begeistert. Nachdem der Herpes abgeheilt ist, werde ich wieder nur eine täglich einnehmen. Beachte: Lysin ist nämlich der Gegenspieler von Arginin und wir brauchen beide Säuren im Körper. Daher nicht auf Dauer mehr als eine Tablette empfohlen.
