Good quality, does what it claims and does it well.
Good price, fantastic build quality. If you need a 4.4 adapter then this will be perfectly fine for 95% of users.

Good item but be careful to use only for intended purpose โBalanced to Balanced!โ
Iโve given it 4 stars Only because it doesnโt work for my specific use case but thatโs not really the fault of the connector. Iโve tried to use this to convert from balanced 4.4 to unbalanced headphones at 3.5mm. This was a gamble and I knew it. Although sound does come through the headphones, itโs heavily distorted. This is likely the fault of the Zen DAC and there was no literature that said this was feasible on this DAC. I took the risk. The build quality is fine and itโs worth what they are charging In my opinion based on the rarity of the 4.4mm connector so factoring additional cost of manufacture I think itโs fair. As long as youโre going from 4.4mm to 3.5mm balanced as advertised I think you will be fine but donโt try and use it to go from balanced to unbalanced headphones with it unless youโre happy to gamble the ยฃ8.

Bad distortion, be careful.
Ok, there is a major problem with this adapter, and I would really think about what and were your going to use this before purchase. So let me start by saying I have tested on high end equipment that I have just finished testing. I will just say I also noticed other reviewers saying same thing as me, so tbh I think there is a problem somewhere along the line. So the problem, I tried 3 sets of headphones Hifiman Sundaras Bauer Dynamic 990pros (250ohm) Sennheisser HD 598โs All through the Ifi HipDac. So I think we can safely say extremely high quality equipment. The problem is simple, there is terrible sound distortion through the 4.4 balanced connection on the HipDac using this adapter, it happens on all 3 sets of headphones, with the same 2 tracks tested. But the final nail in the coffin for me, was the same testing but using just the 3.5 normal connections on the HipDac, the difference is just so clear to see something just isnโt right. Real big shame, as I would like to be using balanced connections. So just be careful, oh one thing to add, Iโve bought 2 of these adapters both had same problem.

It's good, but the connection is a little flaky
All works as expected, however the left channel can drop out sometimes depending on the angle you hold it at. Pushing the cable in to try and re-inforce the seal resolves it. It seems to be a common issue rather than a manufacturing defect. I thought about returning it but there are no other good alternatives in such a small form factor, for a good price, by a reputable brand/with a good size of reviews, so I'm keeping it

It works.. NO distortion or anything weird happening.
Okay look.. I am using an AKG K712 Pro and HIFIMAN Sundara headphones.. Don't bother using them though.. YES it does increase volume which I know a lot of yee are looking for but please also understand that audio quality is taking a slight hit here.. NOT terrible but it is more than expected. The best way for me to describe this is....High notes are pushed back and compressed somewhat.. it's not like mmmmmmmmmmmaybe I might notice it.. NO.. you will.. It's Very Obvious yet it still sounds great.... But it's less HD-esc.... believe me... Don't bother.. I have these cans and I wanted more. I got less.. If you own Hifiman Sundara then get an actual true 4.4mm balanced cable and something like the IFI ZEN DAC V2!

This is, so far, the best 4.4mm to 3.5mm conversion gadget I own. I have extensively used a few other 4.4-3.5 conversion wire, but this specific solid adapter delivers the best sound quality. Perhaps it's due to the lack of wire media that caused certain signal communication degradation. Highly recommended!

I bought this to use with the FIIO KA2 and would recommend it. I haven't encountered any issues with it. However, I noticed that one of my IEMs (KZ ZEX) is producing some kind of distortion. I suspect it's because of the cable from my IEM, as I don't have the same issues when using other IEMs (Salnote Zero and Shure SE215) or headphones (such as ATH-M50, Sony XM4, Steelseries Nova 7, Surface Headphone 2). So, if you experience any distortion, it could be due to your cable. One workaround is to use an AUX extension. I have a 10cm AUX extension that I use, and it eliminates the distortion for the IEM that I had issues with. However, what worked for me might be a different case for you, just keep that in mind.
