Nice Device on Paper - Horrible, Broken Software
Model: Radxa Zero 4GB RAM 16GB eMMC v1.51Device seems decent, hardware seems to work as expected; however, the only Linux version I was able to get to boot with HDMI support is Armbian_22.08.7_Radxa-zero_jammy_edge_5.19.16_xfce_desktop - *ALL* other Linux versions fail to boot with HDMI output - they do boot but no display (e.g. I can connect to it via the network). This includes the official images from Radxa, yes even their own images are broken.Flashing instructions for the eMMC module (including how to enable microSD booting) are unclear - lots of trial and error, had to piece together the complete picture using the instructions for both Windows and Linux.Once running it seems to perform as expected, no thermal issues so far.It has various USB compatibility issues - won't work with some touch screens, doesn't like running two USB devices without a powered hub. The USB 2.0 OTG port seems to only work in that capacity when flashing the eMMC - can't seem to get it act as a USB port any other time.Regrettably I purchased this to replace a RPi Zero (not enough CPU power) but the Radxa Zero doesn't play nice with my project's USB device so I am back to waiting for a RPi Zero 2.I want to like this little computer but the faults are too serious to overlook - the OS can never be upgraded of the video output will break (unless somehow whatever bug was introduces is magically fixed) and USB support is quite limited.
