This is a novelty item for sure. This does work you have to have patience with it and you can light several things. You do have to clean the end sometimes because you have to hold it so close to light whatever you’re lighting, sometimes that will cause some dark corrosion. It does not go out when the wind is blowing.

This is a good lighter overall, but I have to charge it after lighting 3-4 candles. I am not sure if this is by design or if my particular unit's battery is defective.Edit: I received a replacement lighter, and the battery performs a lot better than my first unit.

At first I thought this was a 5 star product because it is pretty handy and kid friendly. Only downside is that it will not hold a charge at all and looses its power after lighting several candles (about 6-8 candles) at one time and then it needs to be plugged back in to charge itself before I can light anymore and I find myself still reaching for a regular flame lighter defeating the purpose. Improving the battery life would make this a 5 star, without it… a 2.5 rating is accurate.

I really like this tool the sparks could light a forest fire. But when I go camping it’s great for starting a fire and no gas is ever involved.

I love this, it makes a small annoying noise but other than that its the best for lighting candles that are almost done so you dont burn yourself
