Excellent
This is a very good shavette. I am a professional barber and have tried about 15 shavette style razors so far, and this is my favourite. There isn't a lot of weight to it, but it still feels comfortable and controlled to use and very well made. The loading system for the blade is also good and as far as i know unique to this particular brand. Because of how the blade is held, the edge of the blade is really close to the end of the shavette which is good for precise shaving, unlike other razors which may have a 5-8mm gap between the edge of the blade and the end of the shavette. If you however prefer more weight in a razor, i can recommend the T.D.J stainless steel cutthroat razor.

Bought it for its weight but no 'Made in Germany' precision engineering
I bought the razor because of its weight for hiking, because all the single use razors that are even lighter, always clog up with stubble. The Dovo seems to be the only one with a very simple blade holder which is what saves the weight. However, the razor came with one inset for normal blades broken in half and two (black ones) for proprietary blades which do not seem to be produced any more, so are a complete waste. The photo shows that the blade is fitting and held between two slightly oval studs but crucially, the studs are too far apart and when the blade sits tight against the right hand one, there is more than 1 mm space at the left side (red circle) which, with a bit of pressure from the stubble against the blade makes the blade being pushed past the stud.£35 for 15 g is on its own pretty outrageous, but getting only one of the apparently flimsy usable inserts that then does not hold the blade very well (plus two inserts for blades that no longer exist) is really taking the micky. In a way, one probably could do quite easily create a MYOG razor using a spoonful of thermoplastics and a length of plastic spine binder bars for a few sheets of paper for faction of the price.Obviously, the shaving works very well given it is the same blade i use in a metal safety razor.Being a German national, thoroughly disappointed and embarrassed.

£30 I think is a bit much for this but it's a good start to using a straight razor.
I wanted to find a good way to fine tune my beard and so I was recommended by my father to use a straight razor to tighten up those edges. Before I was just using a Gillette cartridge razor to fine tune but I found it so inaccurate to use I would sometimes overstep my mark. I got a few nicks and bumps the first time round but I am finding I am getting better at my technique the second time round. The blue Dovo looks okay. It's a bit lightweight in the hand but it is solid. It uses a plastic sheath system to house standard DE razors; you simply snap the razor in half lengthways inside its paper wrapping, you take one half and align the divots on the side with the pegs on the clear plastic holder. Then you close the holder and insert it into the shavette. Simple, but the holder on second use came apart at the fold. Doesn't make it less functional if you're careful, but for £30 it stings and I naturally expect more for my money. All in all, ideal if you want to start using a straight razor but it there might be better bargains to be had.

Works well but be careful not to break it
As said above, it does the job well and I enjoy using it. It's light so for precise linework it works great and I'm sure with experience I'll be able to use a shavette more effectively. It is a bit tricky to get a blade in, although do bear in mind that the clear/white plastic case (which they mention used to be red) is for standard blades. It does have a bit of an unsecured lack of a perfect fit though. Since it doesn't fit perfectly, you will have to rely on having the blade stored in the aluminium blade holder-er holder. It comes with both standard DE razor blade and -Dovo's own make- extra long blade, Which I assumed it wouldn't be bundled with as it states "No Blades Included) so it could have been risky when I dropped the blades (in wax paper packaging, at least) on the floor.I would give it a better rating, however the plastic scale broke while I was handling it and I would now have to resort to using superglue to fix it. If the other side near the pivot pin breaks, the scale is completely detached. So be VERY LIGHT in gripping when handling the shavette as the plastic scale is a bit of a weaker material. I had to drop value for money due to the fact of the plastic just being too easy to break.Other shavettes with metal or wood scales probably won't have this issue, but they also are made of rustable material, whereas this shavette is coated and the only part that could rust would be the disposable blade (also do wrap up blades in the paper, otherwise clearly label a container, when disposing into recycling). In conclusion: Good, but if you have a heavy grip you have to be careful with the black plastic scale.

Amazing Shavette
Its way lighter than expected but for a shavette light is good. As pressure is your worst enemy. The plastic insert method for blade loading is disappointing for this price point but it works well. Best yet there's a bit of overhang which prevents nicking yourself with the edge of the blade. The holders are included for DE blades and Dovo proprietary long blades. The Dovos give the best shave and last ages and give a closer cutthroat type experience. But at a push the DE blades (snapped) are still reasonable in here.Highly recommend this shavette.

It still works pretty good, but it is not worth the price
The clips holding the blade are made of plastic, and after one or two uses, they don't work anymore as they are supposed to, therefore letting the blade free to move. The quality of the shaving is obviously affected by it. It still works pretty good, but it is not worth the price.
