So fast!
My last two irons have been Phillips Azur and I quite like them hence buying two. However they each gave up the ghost after approx 3 yrs so I wanted a change. I chose this iron because I thought the specs were similar (I couldn’t accurately remember them exactly but I had a rough idea) This iron is superior and much cheaper. It is noticeably heavier than the Azur but I think this is an asset. My ironing pile that used to take me about 3hrs to see the back of only took me 2 hrs on first use. The steam output, although similar, is much more efficient. It doesn’t stop and start but continuously steams, powerfully, and, coupled with the extra weight, just whizzes through the ironing. I wasn’t expecting an iron that costs so much less to be so efficient so I am delighted with it. It looks good and works brilliantly. If you can tolerate the extra weight then I would certainly recommend it. I have osteoarthritis in all my extremities and the extra weight didn’t bother me much at all. I much preferred having an ironed pile of laundry in two thirds of the time it used to take me. I just hope it lasts longer than the Azur which, in my experience, just dies a sudden and unexpected death at the most in opportune time. I noticed that some reviewers mentioned the lack of an ability to wind the cord. This was not an issue for me as I have an iron storage plate screwed to the back of my storage cupboard door that I use to wind and store it without difficulty. The price is a very welcome bonus, especially so close to Christmas when I don’t enjoy extra or unnecessary expense.

Stylish and effective iron.
I was first attracted to this iron just by the look of it. A replacement item for my existing iron, which until it refused to turn on, had lasted more than twenty years.I wanted an iron with a variable heat setting, powerful enough to heat up quickly and with a good steam function. This iron not only looks good, it has all the attributes I wanted. It is not a very light iron, neither is it overly heavy, just the right weight to give you confidence that it's sturdy enough to cope with all the creases it may encounter. The steam function is excellent with a boost function should you need it. The spray function is also very good. What may be of concern to some, is that there is no wrap around area to store the cord though because of that, you have no need to unwrap the cord when you want to do the ironing. The iron, because of its power rating, heats up really quickly and within seconds, is ready for action.I think the iron is good value for money, a smooth iron, with good grip, filled from the top using the handy pouring vessel provided in the box. Unlike my old iron, when the water is added, there is no hissing or leakage as it heats.

Verdict - What works well and what doesn't
I'm writing this review after using the iron a few times.. I find it’s best to capture first impressions with items like this as I tend to get used to odd quirks and start to work around themWhat works well# IRONING CAPABILITY - Seems very good - hot temp works well, glides well, notch for use around buttons is useful - initial finish on clothes is good.# WEIGHT - The iron is towards the heavy end of what's available - I like this! - It sounds as if the weight might require more effort to use, but I actually find having to apply more downward pressure using a light iron harder work than sliding a heavier one from side to side.# SPEED TO HEAT - the 3100W makes a difference - it's right up to top temp in a matter of seconds - this works well for me as the thing I iron most of are cotton shirts .. I actually iron very little on a low setting.# STEAM - This feature works well - but it's not a big one for me. As mentioned on the box when it arrives the iron will have a little water residue in it where the steam / spray function has been tested. I actually prefer to use a separate water spray bottle as in the past I've found water reservoirs eventually get a bit grubby and will occasionally leave a spot on a shirt (always at the end when you've ironed the whole thing!) I prefer to keep the iron clean and dry and apply water as I go using a simple garden spray bottle. What could be better# HANDLE - While this is ok I did find the steam buttons at the front of the handle got in the way a little - not to the point where it was a real problem, but it just made the handle a little less comfortable than it could have been# COILING CABLE - This is a little annoying - there is nowhere to coil the cable around the iron after use - having said that I often leave mine out in a spare room.. but not great if you need the space and want to keep it out the way - also think irons left out are extremely dangerous re small kids or pets .. so ability to coil the cable would be useful.OVERALLI like it so far - it feels substantial heats up quickly and irons well.

Heavier than most irons
Fab glides over cotton duvets no more creases. Good price well made no water leakage. Heavier than recent irons but reminds me of my mother’s . She never need to repeatedly iron the same crease as irons now are too light.
