Highly recommended for price
Lovely and comfortable ear defenders for the price. You can pay absolutely 100s of pounds for others but for what I want for indoor target shooting they do the job. I am able to hear anyone talking to me and the reaction time of the mute on gunshot sounds is more than adequate. The battery cover is very easy to remove and replace. Highly recommended for price.

Peltor Tac Sport Ear defenders
Did a lot of research before buying these ear defenders. Looked at several other makes, and even tried on the Howard Leight impact sports. Decided to go with these as our existing ear defenders are Peltor, and although they are not electronic they have given excellent service. As we expected from Peltor these are well made, and very comfortable. They grip hard enough not to fall off even if running, but not so hard as to be uncomfortable. Unlike earlier or cheaper makes, these don't simply clip the sound by switching off the earpiece momentarily, they actually compress the sound wave to lower its volume to an acceptable level, so you done realise it is doing its thing. Gel earpads work great if you wear specs, as they simply seal around them. They arrive in a blister pack, together with a spare pair of alternate colour covers which are easily changed, and a soft cloth drawstring bag to put them in. These are a considered purchase, but worth the money. you can pay a lot more for units that are not nearly as good. UPDATE. After 9 years of loyal use, we have a problem with both pairs of these headsets. The cables are crumbling on both pairs to the point where you can plainly see the wires inside them. All is not lost however, it must be a known problem as 3M supply a headband/wiring kit which can be changed out. 3M will not supply them to the public however due to stupid American privacy laws, so you have to source them from a UK dealer. Cost between £50-£70. still worth doing rather than paying £175 for a new set. 3M will do the work for you but it ends up costing nearly as much as a new pair.

Hear What You Want
Just taken up shooting so advised to get hearing protection and this was one of the brands mentioned. Product is well constructed with a good quality feel. Comes with two sets of outer headset end caps (basically a red set and a black set so you can change the appearance to suit yourself) which are easy ro change by sliding out a catch and then slotting the cover into place. Most obvious benefit of these protectors is that they have a built in (battery powered) amplifier in each side which allows you to set the volume of what yoo can hear while wearing the protectors. In other words have a conversatiin while wearing them. This sounds daft but the electronics are designed to cut off the sound of gunfire immediately it happens, so that you get the best of both worlds - the ability to have a conversation/hear instructions but know that your hearing is protected from loud/close gunfire. Seems to work well and yoh only realsid just how well when you take them off! There are a few different brands available and I chose this product based on reviews I'd read and knowing that 3M is generally a reliable brand. Very pleased with these which I reckon are good value for money and well worth spending the extra cost to get the dynamic sound management instead of static protectors.

Excellent ear defenders
Purchased as a replacement pair and very happy with my purchase. These are great ear defenders and are comfortable to wear and are easy to maintain with replacement ear pads, etc if required. Previous pair still work fine but the protective rubber sheath covering the cables has perished and they look tired and worn but they are old and well used. Quality is very good, price is reasonable and they have proven to be a very good investment and although I have looked and tried others, I believe these are the best in relation to performance, comfort and value for money.

Add tape to lower edge to prevent stock scatches. Otherwise 5 stars.
Very good ear defenders. I’d recommend Duracell batteries tbh. Others don’t last as long. Great sound control to hear conversations etc but super quick to block excessive noises and vital protection for your ears. Comfortable on the ear fir long periods. They need tape on the lower edge to prevent scratching your stock- note to 3M - soften the lower edge!

Short Lifespan.
Another reviewer is correct. They lasted only a short period and one EAR went SILENT !!! Very disappointed considering they are only used once a week and more so because they certainly are NOT cheap. £150. Look elsewhere !!!

Had it for a couple of years now. You might want secondary protection for large calibres but it does a good job and is comfortable to wear for a few hours. Mic does a good job of amplifying sound and can easily carry on a conversation

I spend a lot of time at the range as an instructor and to be honest, electronic hearing protection is the only way to go. I've used many different types ranging from cheaper to more expensive and there is no exception to the rule that states you get what you pay for. The Peltor system works very well. It's sound suppression is spot on when shooting and you can carry on a normal conversation when the range goes quiet. I have yet to complain about shooting a firearm variant that left my ears ringing while wearing the Peltor system. I've had some protectors in the past that didn't seem to keep up with the need for dampening and it would allow the initial "pop" of the round going off to seep through causing minor hearing irritation. The Peltor system is also extremely comfortable to wear. There are options for headband covers that will add more padding if needed but I have yet to find a reason to buy one even after wearing this system for hours on end. The pros and cons: Pros: Very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time, excellent pass through for normal conversations even with background noise, and excellent build quality. Cons: Like most any electronic hearing protectors, the Peltor system can and will run through batteries quickly in some range situations. I recently attended a large class 3 shoot and with the amount of very loud gunfire going off all around me the system drained the battery within 30 minutes. This is typical with most all electronic hearing protection in these situations and doesn't happen during normal range time usage. Not a game stopper by any means but worth mentioning. The Peltor hearing protection system is well known throughout the shooting community and is definitely the better choice over other cheaper solutions. It's worth every penny especially when it comes to protecting your hearing.
