A Resin Worthy of Keeping Any Classic Car in One Piece (Even When the Car Itself Resists)
If you own a classic car, you’ll know they have two natural states: 1. Looking magnificent, and 2. Trying to disintegrate into dust the moment you look away. Mine in particular seems determined to return to the Earth via rust, panel cracks, and whatever mysterious fibreglass sorcery the previous owner did in the 1970s. So I picked up this Swindon Watersports Polyester Resin Kit to patch up a few, shall we say… “vintage” areas. Turns out, it’s exactly what a classic car owner needs: a product strong enough to hold your pride and joy together emotionally and structurally. This resin is professional‑grade and Lloyds‑approved, which basically means it’s the sort of stuff an actual boat builder would use—far more qualified than me, and arguably more qualified than whoever last repaired my wing. Mixing is easy: just add 2% catalyst, stir like you’re making a very illegal cocktail, and you’ve got 15–20 minutes of working time before it turns into rock‑solid automotive archaeology. Perfect for casting missing brackets, repairing cracked fibreglass panels, or recreating bodywork sections that mysteriously fell off at 60 mph. The smell? Let’s just say it’s strong enough to make you nostalgic for the era your classic car came from. It hits you with a wave of 1970s body shops, polyester trousers, leaded petrol, and questionable restoration techniques. But hey — it works. And it really works. Once set, the repair is so solid I’m convinced the fibreglass bits of the car may now be the strongest parts of it. Honestly, if the rest of the vehicle ever dissolves into rust flakes, this resin repair will remain proudly intact like a tiny archaeological exhibit of my once‑beloved motor. Final Verdict for Classic Car Owners: If your classic car has areas held together by faith, filler, and the engineering optimism of previous owners, this resin is exactly what you need. It patches holes, rebuilds missing corners, shapes into new parts, and gives you the courage to say: “Yes, this is structurally sound. Probably.” Just remember: Classic car ownership is 10% driving, 30% nostalgia, and 60% learning fibreglass skills you never wanted.

Resin and filler
Good quality resin but not much of it. Very good for small jobs though.

Given new life to Bill's (RIP) old kayak
Not really knowing what I am doing I purchased this to seal an old fibreglass kayak. Appears to have done the job well but not launched boat yet. Nice shine achieved by spreading generously with a small foam roller. Evenly coated with no runs. To give you an idea of coverage my sea kayak is 4m long and it took approx 250 ml to coat the bottom half (hull). Sadly I mixed double that and had to waste some of the product but theKayak cost me nothing so I am pleased the result achieved with this product. P.S An addition to coverage. Mixed 100 ml to second coat kayak hull and generously coated it and had a little to spare. Tip- If doing job in two pats do not let acetone cleaner run on to newly rolled resin as it results in unsightly streaks - thus the need for a second coat!!!!!
