Fantastic Jump-leads.
I'd had a set of cheapy jump-leads in the boot of my car for years, not really ever having to use them. Then in the recent bad weather, by battery took a bit of a hit, so out they came ..... but, low-and-behold, they failed on me. Not a drop of power getting through. Luckily, a neighbour came to the rescue with a decent set.Now I thought I could get a new half decent set for myself for around £15-20, but when I saw that the same low quality cheapy sets in the shops near me were around that price anyway, I decided to have a look online.Halfords and other big name brand store's ones weren't cheap, as you can imagine, so I ended up on here, Amazon. When I saw these in the listings, I thought from the reviews that they should be an ok set of mid-range leads, and suit my needs, and priced at the very budget end, I thought I'd take a chance on them (Not that I'm tight .... just careful with my extravagances, you understand). When they arrived in the post, I could not believe what I had bought for just over £9. Seriously, if I had seen them on a store shelf priced at £49, I would not have blinked twice at them. They look like they would jump start a Boeing 747 (bump starting them, normally the job of my ex-mother-in-law of course) .... with ease :)Now, don't get me wrong, these are not the kind of thing you buy, and then are not able to use because they are just too big for the job or you need the hand grip of Geoff Capes to even open the clamps ..... They are just a very well made, quality item, that will do the job they were intended to do perfectly.I would of thought that they would last you for years and years, even with regular use ..... but even if they didn't ..... at just over £9 a set, how could you possibly loose huh? :)Plus guys ..... You are going to get some VERY acknowledging nods from people when you whip these beauties out to jump YOUR neighbour, just for the sheer length and girth of these monsters!!To top it all off, they come in a clear (handy so you can see what you're looking for under all the debris in your car boot ..... Oh, just me then?) soft plastic carry case, to keep them clean and tidy, ready for the time they can spring into action and save you from the dreaded "Hi, I'm the guy from No. 45. Would you happen to have a set of jump leads I can borrow please, as mine don't work because they are only cheapys from the local market stall" scenario. Thanks for reading my review, now go order yourself some ..... and some for your dad too. It'll be Father's Day soon. Heck, it's Mother's Day before that .. Buy some for her car too. Blimey, at this price, my whole family and friends are getting a set of these for Xmas each this year too. They'll all think I spent at least £35 on them, and I may even get a decent gift back off of them for a change too.Happy jumping, Garry.

Good quality booster cables
I brought these as 8 gauge cable that is heatproof for DC solar can be really expensive. The listing says they can handle 600 amps, but only for short bursts on a car that just needs a bit more juice to start. As a set of cables that will start a Diesel that has bad glow plugs and been standing for a while... No way. I have a set of heavy duty jump leads that are 25mm and they definitely can handle starting a car that struggles to start up to a 3 litre without boosting the flat battery. I would say these will get your 1.6 started after you have left both cars connected for five minutes with the good car running to get some juice into the struggling battery. They are very well insulated and can handle 200 degrees C without doubt. The terminal crocodile clips are hard to defeat, so you get a good copper connection no problems and being ABS plastic, they are insulated and cover the electrical contacts well when closed. The cable is 4mm, so will carry 37 AMPS safely all day, but nothing like the 600 AMPS the label says they can deal with. Before I chopped one open, I started a 1.6 petrol focus with a dead battery and that did the job without breaking a sweat. It only took one good stab with the key to start it though!I am not knocking these leads as they are better than the booster cables I have seen from other vendors, but the picture says it all... Thick insulation, not a thick conductor. The instructions do state that you should leave the cables connected for at least 3 minutes before you attempt to start the car with the discharged battery, so even they are suggesting the cables are booster cables. I hate to sound like these are not what I expected, but they definitely do the job I wanted the cable for and the croc clips are an added bonus :)Just for the record, starter motors up to a 2 litre (4 piston engine) a 6mm cable minimum, then 10mm will cover up to a 2.5 diesel (6 piston) , 16mm will deal with 2.5 diesel with more than 6 pistons and for a V8 or above, go with the 25mm ... These are safe minimum sizes... if you go below these factors, then use the cables in a booster capacity, not cranking constantly... If you are boosting, then run the starter for no more than 5 seconds and then wait a minute before you try again :)(If the cables are getting warm or hot when you are trying to start your engine, then try less often so that they are not carrying such a high current)

Good leads but didn't work for me first time
Car battery was dead so used these and they didn't start the car after using another car to help jump it. Got a friend to use a battery pack to jump it and it started first time so the leads are weak and not drawing enough power but then I tried a few days later with another car and it helped start the car so no idea what's what. Will check again if I have problem and review again if need be.

Low Price but decent Quality
I needed a set of jump leads as I was fed up with having to park a car nose to nose with the car with a flat battery to charge it.My old set were 2m long, which wasnt enough, I found the 3.6m leads here ideal. The cable is quite thick and does the job, the clips on each end are copper toothed and were easy to put on the battery terminals. As for the current ratings on all these things - fairly meaningless, as the idea is that you connect up another car and battery with these cables to charge the dead battery at least a bit. Then after a few minutes the battery will be partly charged, and when you try to fire the engine up, most of the current to do so will come from the previously dead battery, with the charging leads only taking a small fraction of the starting current. Most starter motors, even for diesels, are less than 2.5KW so at 12V will only draw 200A or so in total so I really don't understand the 600/800/1200A claims for various leads available. This lead is perfectly adequate for starting most cars and small vans, and I think is excellent value for money.Very pleased.
