Excellent Couriers kept leaving the gate open and our puppy kept running out while she was still learning recall Nearly lost her as she followed dpd out and they didn't see her as they went out the gate, she almost went in the road Fitted this, took just a few minutes now we dont have to worry, perfect closing as soon as you let go of the gate

Ditch the screws and use your own. The screws supplied are awful in quality and the head came off most of them. The door closer is working really well after a few months.

I bought this to replace a garden gate spring that I bought from B&Q that exploded into bits as I tried to fit it to the gate. That was utter junk. This gate closer is far higher quality and I wish I had gone for this originally. The packaging says that the spring mechanism is weather proof and can be used outside. You need a certain level of strength to set the spring without breaking your fingers. WARNING: the piece of plastic that is intended to be used as guide for the spring bar is not compatible with WD40 and probably not other solvents. After I fit the spring, I thought I'd spray a little WD40 on the guide to ease the sliding of the bar. The result was that the plastic guider went brittle, cracked and fell apart. No worry though - I just replaced it with a metal plate for the bar to slide on and all works fine. Probably better.

I bought this door closer just over two years ago, so I am in a good position to tell how durable it is. The spring, barrel and lever are all made of metal. They look smart and do exactly what they are supposed to do: they have performed well over the time I have had the item. The weak point is the channel in which the lever slides. It is a little too short, so that the lever comes right to the end of the channel (at least) at both ends of its travel. Also, the channel is made of black plastic, not metal. The metallic coating wore off within a few days, leaving the black plastic visible, and rather unsightly. And now the channel has broken completely – see photo. So the good quality of the mechanism is undermined by the poor quality of the plastic lever channel. Could not give it more than three stars overall. A pity, really.

Simple to fit, very effective and good value

I purchased this door closer, and it has been nothing short of hazardous. During installation, the cheap, low-quality die-cast material cracked under normal pressure, exposing a razor-sharp edge that sliced deeply into my hand. The cut was bad enough that it’s still bleeding heavily. The body feels flimsy and poorly finished, and the included screws are absolute garbage – soft, cheap metal that strips instantly with even light torque. I had to stop the installation entirely because it became too dangerous to continue. This product isn’t just poorly made; it’s a genuine safety risk. Sharp, brittle parts that can break and cut you badly, combined with useless fixings. I strongly advise against buying this – it could cause serious injury. I’m returning it as soon as I can and will be warning everyone I know. Stay away!

This has been installed for about a month now. It was easy to install and works well to close the door fully, but doesn't slam it. Perhaps because this is fitted on an internal door which opens back wider than 90 degrees, the plate does not cover the full range of movement of the end of the closer and this has has caused marks on the door (a grey line). We also had an issue, when the door was being used by children without close supervision, that the bar has poked a hole in the door. Both of these issues have been remedied by installing a fingerplate along the full range of movement of the bar; and I would still replace this if it was to break.

Spring is strong enough to close the door fully from half or full opening. Definitely will buy it again if need. Very easy installation provided instructions is very helpful but handy guy dont need it. Working how should installed on my door almost half year and still working

Gemonteerd en op spanning gezet deed niet met de deur dus wat strakker Daarna meteen defect. Weer teruggestuurd.

Bought this doorcloser for an inner door. Not all the reviews are positive about the supplied screwsso i installed it with better screws just to be sure. The Guiderail is not long enough according to some but if you install the spring-unit close to the hinges it should be good. Tensioning is a bit off a fiddle if the door is sunk deep in its post. Then you can use a extra tensioning arm beside the one which is supplied, an 8x80 mm bolt will do the job. Used it one week sofar and i am happy with it. Seems simple and robust enough.....
