Solid construction, feel very sturdy and work well. As the cable is short they don't take up much space in a laptop bag or similar. If you have a Macbook or Macbrook Pro a couple of these or something similar is essential and these are excellent value.

An excellent cable, and well built. This cable is only long enough to connect your external hard drive along site your laptop. This suits me! If you need it further away get a longer cable.

Having recently invested in a new MacBook Pro I wanted to be able to keep my existing USB Hard Drives - all 8TB of them, whilst being able to connect them to the USB-C ports on the MacBook. This cable does the job perfectly, works as expected and the faster data transfer speeds are extremely impressive. Will definitely be buying more!

Got a new MacBook Pro, needed a cable for all my moblie Samsung hard drives (Micro USB-B type connector) so I can connect them to the USB-C only laptop. The cable is of decent quality and packaging was nice. Works well with all my hard drives. Great! £8 is a little steep to be honest, considering the cable is very short, that's why no 5 stars. £5 would be perfect.

If there was ever a reason to hate apple even more, is replacing everything with USB-C port in their new laptops. I understand that they want to be the "market leaders" and "innovators" of computer technology but when the world has not even begun to make use of USB-C ports, it would be nice to provide us with a transition period. Give us some time to lub ourselves up instead of shoving it in us! As a professional designer the one thing I hate most is the fact that the field I work in worship apple, as a cult, as a religion, and totally disregard its faults, limitations and arrogance. This forced me to upgrade to the new macbook when my previous laptop became too old to function, which has forced me to retire ALL my WB harddrive cables and replace them with these ones. I had the apple doggle but by adding another connection between the harddrive and the laptop, it slows down the transfer and loading speed. Additionally, there is a much higher chance of disconnection with the doggle and it's the last thing you want to happen when transferring massive amount of files. So despite how much I hate Apple's USB-C dictatorship, I do like this cable because it is a perfect solution to the harddrive problem apple has caused.

It does the work I bought it for: to connect an external drive with my MacBook 12 inches which only has a usb-c port. It works perfectly fine both in reading and writing speeds and with my time machine back-up program. Highly recommended if you don't want to ditch your old external hard drive.

This cable is the best way to connect an external hard drive to a Macbok Pro. Better than all dongles and hubs, this cable works like a charm.

I'm one of the unfortunate few who have fallen victims to Apple's new direction of removing every port they can think of, requiring you buy an overpriced dongle from them at £30+ a shot. Thankfully this cable has ended one of their monopolies. The cable is sturdy, connects well, and manages all the USB 3.1 data I can chuck at it. I highly recommend it as an alternative to a dongle.
