is this rope has a strong smell? I bought another one and it was terrible...

This product is twine - not rope. It is very handy for various jobs in the house and garden - and has a very mild earthy smell.

Any good for use in the construction of toys for birds?

Hi I would think so. It seems to be a nice string twine. All the twine I’ve used outside to tie plants etc has weathered very well. I’m sure that over time it will rot but so far so good.

I don’t know the grades of quality for jute twine but this is perfect for garden jobs such as tying in. If you wanted it for craft use it may be too thick - I prefer a thinner string for tying in bottle labels etc. But this is great value for the garden.
