Fancied a change from Super Slinkys
For many years I have used Ernie Ball Super Slinky (which are great), but as my playing has improved I decided to step up to 10s to start building a bit more finger strength and improving my bending technique. These (Skinny Top Heavy Bottom) are great, easy to play, don't stretch too much after first stringing so are good on my Floyd rose guitar. Heavy bottom gives a really nice thick tone for metal licks whilst the 10s on top are still flexible enough for playing high up on the frets and bend easily. I like Ernie Ball strings as they are not as 'tinny' (bright?) sounding as D'addario (which I have also tried), I like their slightly less treble'y tone, each to his own with stings and plenty of people will disagree with me, but finding your own guitar tone is a personal thing, so play what you like the sound of, not what some review says you should like!! For a fiver these are reasonably priced and so if you don't like them then you haven't wasted a fortune. I got some Beefy Slinky strings at the same time, but I find them much harder work (especially on the fixed bridge guitar I put them on) still playable and a nice tone, but you know after a few minutes practice that that you are using heavier strings. These strings on the other hand I can comfortably play for an hour or so without aching fingers!! I noticed a comment about string snapping, I have always used Ernie Ball (for around 27 years) and apart from when I was first starting out I have rarely snapped a string through playing, I found it was due to that old chestnut of not recognising tone and turning the tuning pegs the wrong way, or turning the wrong tuning peg and even then it was only usually the high 'E' so I used to pick up a spare, at my local music shop (who sold them individually from a wooden tray in the days before the internet). That said I don't have a heavy picking arm, I find the volume knob on the amp is better for 'going loud' than beating seven bells out of the strings, so I can't vouch for these strings for those who pick really heavy, perhaps try the new RPS line if you are having real problems, or change your picking technique!!

Full of tone
I have a Gibson Les Paul that had been problematic regarding tuning stability and low E fret buzz. My string of choice was always 10-46. No amount of tweaking its set up remedied the problems. I acquired a set of skinny top, heavy bottom strings from my son as a birthday present. I popped them on as I needed a fresh set of strings and had no alternative choice at the time. This string guage has completely transformed my Les Paul. The buzz has gone, the tuning is accurate and stable and the tone is woody and round. The skinny bottom end means that I can play single note runs with relative ease and the heavy bottom end allows me to riff and play power chords without any detuning or buzzing and, in my opinion, translates into enhanced and superior tone. Also, I have noted that, for me, Ernie Balls seem to be more resistant to breakages and stay bright and articulate for at least as long as similar or more expensive competitors. Highly recommended.

If you are trying these for the first time be wary
Hey all. I'll start by saying these are good strings BUT, if you're used to you're strings being quite "slinky" then these are not for you. I usually play Ernie Ball Rock n' roll classics which I find have a fantastic amount of bend to them but not too much to jepordise you're tuning. I wanted to beef out my tone a bit as I'm the only guitarist in my band but i didn't want to lose tonality in the solos, these seem like a perfect match right? Well these do what they say BUT if like me you use alot of tremelo on your D string then don't go for these, the top (thickiest strings), E, A, D in this pack come extremely tight and you get little to none flexibility out of them. The G, B and the E do have great flexibility like most slinky packs. All I'm saying is, be aware that if, like me you use a lot of "thicker string vibrato" (as i like to call it) you will have to sacrifice it in order to use these strings. However, if you are used to using tight strings then these are for you. You get to keep that nice tightness for all the rythem sections and then with these strings you get some nice flexibility when you break into a solo. Simply put, the top E, A, D (thickest) are quite tight. 4 stars because they have absolutely nothing wrong with them, great shipping time and great price they just weren't for me!

One of the best for standard tuning
It’s a really good value. Never had a string snap on me even though I like to dig in hard with my picks.

I love these strings
For years, I have been switching between Rotosound DarkZone (10-60) and Ernie Ball Power Slinky (11-48) but finally I have found the set that is exactly what I have been looking for. As someone who prefers music to be more on the heavy metal side, I usually like to detune my guitars in a Drop C or Drop B tuning. For me, the DarkZones really shine in a Drop B purely because of those heavier bottom strings but getting them in to Drop C just has way too much tension. Power Slinky were my go to choice for Drop C but with the top strings also being slightly heavier, I wasn't enjoying string bends as much. These Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom strings have given a solution to my problems and I absolutely love them! As with all Ernie Ball sets, the quality is also amazing and they deliver a stunning, bright tone, especially through my EMG-JH pickups! Ernie Ball truly hit the nail on the head with this set.

PERFECT FOR METAL / ROCK GUITARISTS / DROP TUNINGS
Have used these strings for close to a decade now! They are very useful for Drop D Tuning, Drop Db, Drop C, or even standard e if you have a heavy picking hand! They allow for lower tension on the high strings for soloing (string bending etc) and a high tension on the lower strings for aggressive rhythm playing Ernie Ball always price these fantastically. 5/5 Will continue to buy more!

Perfect Bottom End.
Good quality string, the three pack is great value. This string provides a nice bottom end missing on standard strings.

I love these guitar strings
I've used these strings for many years now and I will say they are great strings, the perfect string gauges for drop tuned guitars. They are very durable and over the years I've rarely had these strings break. The 3 pack of strings was a great value IMO. If you're looking for some great strings at a great price look no further. Also ill add, the variety of different gauges Ernie Ball offers is amazing. They have strings for every guitarist needs.

pretty good and affordable
the only issue is the strings get old and rusty extremely fast but overall they perform well and can hold drop tunings
