Most effective.so good I bought it again.
Bought a new to me (20 year old) bike 5 months ago, and finally fitted a chain oiler to it. Saw how filthy the chain was during fitting. As I had already bought some of this from amazon for my other bike (which now will get its chain cleaned) but had never used, I decided to give it a go. Worth mentioning: it is not like brake cleaner that evaporates quickly, it is more like paraffin, so you might want to take measures to both capture it in a drip-tray of some sort, and to keep it off your tyre and rear brake disk. I took precautions because I did not want to splatter old lube/grease and dirt all over my rear tyre and brakes, As I was at work I used a car drip tray, the sort you put under a car engine to stop oil/coolant getting on the floor diring repairs, slid under the rear wheel with the bike on the centre stand, it caught most of it, and I just pored it in our was oil tank. To keep it off the rear wheel/tyre and brakes I got a large bit of corrugated cardboard, cut a rough hole in the middle and then cut from the hole to the edge. With some trimming I got this to act as a shield behind the chain/sprocket to keep the cleaner off the wheel and disk. As this cleaner is not water based it did not make the cardboard go soggy during use. So, now I was ready to actually use it. It is very effective. I ended up using 2 tins, but the chain was very very dirty, and very very dry with caked on lube, and I had left my chain brush at home. Sorry guys at work, the brush from the tea room sink got repurposed, and is now in the bin. . . The previous owner had owned the bike for a year and about 600 miles, and I guess the chain was dirty when he got it, and never cleaned while he owed it, the lube was tar like. By the time I had used both tins I had found out that the chain was one of those with gold links, a detail that was previously impossible to notice. Will give the chain a second clean using my chain brush (now at work) to finish the job off. Liked I so much I bought it again.

It's chain cleaner
It really does clean chains. Quelle surprise. I mean... not as well as the chain cleaners of yore, but with probably* much less cancer. *I'm not a doctor, nor in fact, in any other capacity qualified to make this statement with any form of confidence.

The science in bike cleaning....
Amazing - I Have not seen the metal or parts linked to my chain for 10 years!! I sprayed it and left it a few minutes, there is a small pipe that attaches and then I sprayed again and the oil and dirt just broke away (like a mini power-wash - outstanding!!). I have owned my Bandit 600 for 14 years and never has it looked so clean, previously used "Muck off" and other leading cleaning products for bikes...ideal for the weekend warrior, or dedicated mile-muncher ;-) Don't do what I did and spray "open mouthed" in amazement....best wear a mask or breath through something. I am a bit concerned that I was not collecting the run off - maybe best have or use a drip tray (my next purchase off Amazon). Using the follow on product was not as good (the chain lube), as this is also clear and I was unable to locate where I had sprayed (but will review later, as it needs time to dry).

Works very well - but runs out quickly
Top quality product, but remember it's only about 1/3 full - there rest is gas. With that in mind, I managed to use the can up in two chain cleaning sessions- in my mind I'm thinking "be sparing" but in my heart I'm thinking "this works so well and let's use just a bit more there". You can probably make it go further if you're willing to scrub a bit more and spray a bit less, and the next can I get I'll spray into a cup and just dip my brush in that to try and make it go a bit longer, as naturally most of the product drips on the floor or sprays around the chain. But it really works. It's a little addictive being able to make the chain shine with a good powerful blast from the can but remember it costs ££ and elbow grease costs a lot less ;)

Works
Worked a treat. One can and a bit of elbow grease gets the chain nice and clean.
