Great cheap way of introducing music to kids
This is a great little Glockenspiel. I bought it for my young daughter to introduce her to music and get her away from the electronics that kids seem to love. She is probably a little bit too young to make full use of it at 14 months but I'm sure it is something she will grow to enjoy and I think it will be a great way to encourage and introduce music. The glockenspiel is perfect for small children. It only has 8 keys which are colour coded and firmly attached into the casing. The whole thing is quite small as well, so perfect for kids. It comes with one beater and a 4 song sheet of basic kids tunes to start you off.Unlike some other music instruments, its obviously fairly easy to make a decent noise from (even for toddlers) and its fairly indestructible, something that cannot be said for most other instruments.Overall I was really impressed with this. In fact I had so much fun playing it myself that I ended up buying a larger (Angel Glockenspiel) from Amazon.Warning playing this is addictive and could lead you down the same path!

Surpringly good first instrument...
Being a bit of a <insert choice of name> I decided to get this as a gift for my young nephew. He's at that age where he is LOUD so what better way to channel his loudness than with this rather fine xylophone or rather a glockenspiel (what with the metal key thingies - yeah that's right I'm a proper musician), we also got him a drum for good measure.Anyway, the instrument sounds surprisingly in key what with being a kids toy and is very well built and has survived being thrown across a room and bashed with the basher thing with all the might that a small toddler can muster. The only negative thing I will say is that you'll need to be on hand to comfort the tears if and when your child hit themselves in the face with the basher during a manic musical session, though, of course, that isn't the fault of the instrument. So, whilst I'm resting comfortably in the peace and quiet of my own home, I do wonder how my sister is coping with the kid, the xylophone, and the drum...

Awesome sound
Definitely 5 stars - the xylophone arrived super quick and well packaged. Our 8 month old daughters face when she heard the sound was amazing, she loves it ... it makes an awesome sound and is really well made, very sturdy and safe including the beater (it is made as one so there are no worries about the head or handle coming apart, the xylophone is the same - everything is contained and surrounded by plastic so there is nothing that can hurt our little one) which is great as it instantly went in her mouth. The whole item is not heavy so perfect for little hands. Even Daddy loves it - when it arrived he tapped out a few songs. We used this brand at her music class so had no hesitations to buy - we actually bought the chime bell and maracas too. Would definitely recommend.

Where’s my free gift
I love the product but I am very disappointed as when I ordered it said I would get a free gift (thinknit was a baby comforter) but this isn’t included in package when it has arrived

Exciting, Engaging Xylophone
This is a truly lovely xylophone. My daughter is eight months old and enjoys trying to play it with the mallet included and likes to listen to me play tunes on it. I have thoroughly enjoyed using the little song book included to learn and play some songs - it took me back to my primary school days when I used to play the glockenspiel. the xylophone is very well designed and even though it is for 12 months + my daughter has played with it without any problems. The plastic casing ensures that she doesn't get her fingers caught. The xylophone bars are made of metal and sound lovely when played with the mallet, which clips underneath the xylophone when it is not in use - perfect storage solution. I wholeheartedly recommend this. We have pretty much all of the Hallilit musical instruments, they are the best you can buy, exceptionally well made etc.

In tune and well designed.
Got this for my young nephew in the hope his daddy will learn to play some times I have taught him to teach his son, my nephew.I read the reviews of the various options available for kiddie xylophones and saw that many reviewers for this one particularly stated that the bars had been tuned correctly - seems that on some similar products, the instrument being in tune was a bit of a problem. To make sure, as I was going to have to post the item on to my brother who lives abroad, I checked the xylophone myself against a digital tuner I have. All the bars were in tune so I was pleased about that. I also liked that the bars had on them their relevant note letter (A, B, C, D) etc.The xylophone is on the C major scale one octave. So while the tunes it can play are limited there is plenty to choose from. In the box is a card that has simple tunes on it written on the treble clef with colour coded notes. I thought this a really good addition as it means the parent can use what they see on the card as a reference point for other music written on the treble clef to broaden their child's musical vocabulary beyond the four tunes provided. The clapper thing is included and clips to the xylophone. I thought though that it was a big wibbly-wobbly and it was easy to hit the wrong bar when trying to bang out a tune. I can play piano and guitar, so I was trying out a variety of tunes at tempo. However, as any normal kid is going to lose the clapper anyway and resort to using some other implement to clout the bars, I was not too concerned about the provided clapper thing. What I really like about this instrument, that comes with a carry handle, is that it is designed in such a way that be bars cannot fall out. Kiddie can tilt this thing any way they like, drop it or whatever and the instrument will stay in tact. I thought it has been well designed with kids in mind.
