The filter is made of metal but the end of the plunger is plastic.
Good product, works as expected. However, the threaded end cap on the plunger is made of plastic, and I don't really want plastic coming into contact with hot liquid that I intend to drink. I'm trying to reduce microplastics and chemicals from cookware leaching into my diet. The older model, also made by Bodum, had an all metal filter assembly, including the threaded end cap. I don't like this design change, but I couldn't find an all metal version. The lid of both the old and new version is also plastic, but that doesn't come into contact with the hot liquid, so that's fine, while also providing necessary insulation so you don't burn your hand. It's the plastic threaded end cap on the plunger that submerges into the coffee that I object to, and so loses a star for that reason. I know it's only a small area, but I'm tyring to reduce plastic contact with food wherever I can.

perfect good ol French press for great tasting coffee
I’ve moved from French press to Moka pot, to Aero press and then back to good ol French press. My opinion is that if you have a good burr grinder and love to enjoy your coffee without milk and sugar, a French press is all you need since it is very forgiving, can make coffee in different capacities and is very easy to use and clean. Earlier I had a blade grinder and didn’t like French press much but now with my manual burr grinder, the best coffee I make is with French press. I have tried a lot but can’t get as good coffee with Aeropress or Moka pot. Might try pour over someday but for now, French press for the win! And this one from Bodum is great. It’s glass container so no plastic. No use of paper filters. The mesh filter works perfectly if your grind size is right. If you’re using espresso grounds in a French press then surely grounds will pass through the filter. It’s not the fault of the product.

Ummmm coffee
Didn’t think I’d ever say this, but my Nespresso machine is officially retired! The Bodum French Press has completely won me over. It’s simple, stylish, and makes such a smooth, rich cup of coffee that I honestly don’t miss the pods at all. The design feels sturdy and well-made, and it’s super easy to clean — no fiddly parts or mess. I love the ritual of brewing coffee this way now; it feels slower in the best possible sense, and the flavour you get out of freshly ground beans is just miles ahead of capsules. It’s also great value for money — no more buying pods or dealing with recycling them. Just coffee, hot water, and a few minutes of patience. If you’re thinking about ditching the machine and going back to basics, this is 100% worth it. Simple, sustainable, and absolutely delicious.

Great until it broke
Been using this multiple times a week for 6 months and love it but the glass has shattered today which is disappointing. I was only hand washing it so not sure how that even happened.

Good cafetiere
Really good little cafetiere. It says it makes three cups but really it's one big mug or two smaller cups.

Perfect for one.
Very happy with this purchase to keep me topped up when out of capsules. Well packaged and easy to clean. Perfect for my needs as I’m the only one in the house that drinks coffee. Unless the cups are espresso sized you’re not getting three out of this one though. So if you’re after brewing for more than one at a time then size up. Picture is for a full cafeterias output.
