I fitted straight to the tap as displayed, unfortunately it leaked badly and also messed with the thread. After many attempts gave up…but using some old connectors and a small piece of hose came up with a better solution and it worked perfectly…hence my reason for knocking off a star

Just what I was looking for. I have a flex hose on one side and a metre long length on the other aide to fill up watering cans and sprayers. This means I don't have to keep swapping fittings around, just turn and go. Just wanted to add as well, I noticed on some reviews they said don't fit direct to tap. Just add some plumbing tape around the copper thread on your tap, that will take care of the leak for you.

I've bought several brass dual tap connectors but all proved disappointing in use, with varying degrees of leakage and failure. I had always been dubious of plastic connectors, but decided to give one a go. So glad I did. This one has performed perfectly for the past few months and I see no reason for it not to continue!

As with all Hozelock products they are good quality and they work. It was exactly half the price of our local DIY shop. Excellent value

I use this on a low pressure irrigation feed from a rain water but, with a side draw for watering cans. It works fine, but after a couple of years it started leaking. Changing the washer did nothing, and I couldn't pinpoint the reason for the leak. In the end, I scrapped it and bought another, without much expectation that it will last long.

Hozelock has always been the "go to" hosepipe connection system for me but in recent years, as other reviewers mention, it has become less a simple quality product and more a "how can I get this to work as advertised". This Tap/Hose splitter falls into the "why is this not working" category. It looks simple; attach to the tap, attach hose, water the plants, but no. It leaks, it leaks all over the place. The screw joint to the outside tap just doesn't tighten correctly. Adding an extra washer does not help, tightening it to within an inch of the plastic breaking does not help. Surely, I must be doing something wrong? There seems to be a clue on the back of the packaging that shows an extra Hozelock device going in between the tap and this item. It is Hozelock product numbered 2181 but I have been so far unable to find it on Amazon or indeed the Hozelock web site. Maybe this would fix this problem but at this point that is an unknown. The photo on the front of the packaging does not show this device and does show the 2256 connecting directly to the tap. This is where the "not as advertised" option would come into the equation. The 2256 can also be used as a hosepipe splitter not directly attached to a tap and comes with an adapter for this purpose. Here it does work, which indicates to me that it isn't a complete waste of bright yellow plastic. Used in this way it does not leak and will give you two outlets from one water source but only if that water is coming from a hosepipe. Rather than just returning the 2256 as not fit for purpose I made up a short 10cm length of hose with a Hozelock push fit connector at each end and attached one end to the tap and the other to the 2256. So far this has not leaked but surely this is not what you should have to do with this tap splitter which at full price is not an impulse purchase? Overall? Well, I got it working for what I needed but I wouldn't recommend it as a quality product out of the box.
