Not sure if it is the figure or the seller, but the figure I got is a no go!
Note: will update this review once I have had contact with the seller about this particular figure, but for now this is my review:1. The face looks like it has been made by a five year old and bears no resemblance to the pictures what so ever. Mine does not have the flattened 'broken nose' look, the nose scar is on the right as you look at it not the left! There is no washing/painting in the facial scars. The un patched eye is wide open, like he has sat on a rather sharp object, not half closed as per the images on Amazon or the box! Let's just say it doesn't look 'original' if you see what I mean.2. Joints so loose they may as well be made of wet spaghetti. Upon taking it out of the box the chest-abdomen joint gave up the ghost and fell apart, although it did re join.3. The head fell off. Then fell apart. You are supposed to be able to open the head, by taking the face and upper hair portion off, to facilitate moving the boggle eye from behind the face (should be the menacing, half closed eye......but see point 1). The joints resemble a hollow plastic ball (2mm in diameter) sliced in half and compelled to stay together by the hopes and dreams of unicorns.Edit: I just saw a review for this figure on YouTube where they just unplugged the face. Certainly NOT what I have.4. I got two red fist hands rather than one Red fist hand and one open red hand for holding a gun barrel etc.5. The stand pincer part, for gripping the figure, was absent from the box.6. If future events necessitate then I will identify the seller as it looked to me as if the box was a previously returned figure: sellotape at the bottom of the box was broken, the stand bag was ripped, the sellotape that normally secures the interior plastic clam shells was missing and the black plastic parrot the figure was in seemed rather dusty and messy.EDIT: no plastic wrapping around the figure or between the joints, as is often the case witg revoltech.

You can almost hear the WHOOOOOOOA-HOOOOOOO
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has been out for about a year now and opinions have been mixed. Many say the gameplay is great but the story was rushed and a mess. I'm personally in that camp. I also felt the game was way too long for what it was but I'm not here to review the game, I'm here to review Union Creative and Kaiyodo's new Venom Snake figure. Now what is Vulcanlog some of you might ask? I'm still not entirely sure but for those well versed in toylines it's pretty much just a newer version of Kaiyodo's Revoltech line as it mostly uses those kinds of joints. Revoltech is a love it or hate it line and I love the other one I own so I took the plunge on the Venom Snake figure. How does he hold up, though? Let's begin withThe Sculpt:The sculpt is really good. Looking at prototype pictures I was unsure how to feel about his face sculpt but in person? I think it looks perfectly fine. The eye is less squinty than the prototype which I think looks much better for a smaller scale figure such as this. There is a fix online out there for those who are unhappy with the wider eye if you look. But everything you expect to be sculpted is there such as the scars, the horn, and the eyepatch. All of it looks like it should. I won't go on much about the body sculpt since it's just about what you'd expect. The clothing wrinkles, the robot arm, all of it seems accurate if a bit stylized. The stylization is expected since just like Raiden, this guy was sculpted by Katsuhisa Yamaguchi who is well known for his slick and stylized sculpts. I wouldn't say he's as stylized as his previous figure of Naked Snake which I currently don't own yet. Something worth noting is his height. Compared to other import lines Venom Snake is massive. He's taller and wider than both the Figma Snake and Revoltech Raiden which makes him near standard Marvel Legends height. This is fine since I'm pretty sure Venom in-game is comparatively bigger than most characters. I'm also glad they went with the sneaking suit for this figure. I love how much it looks like Solid Snake's MGS1 suit and while some might've preferred his desert fatigues I'm glad we got this instead. The Paint:I don't know if there's much I can say here either, everything on him looks pretty clean. I can't say I can find any paint mistakes anywhere on this figure. Now I'm sure if you looked close enough you might find something but to the naked eye I can't see much. He doesn't have much paint variation but that's fine, he doesn't need it. Only thing that looks like it has a paint wash are the hands on his robot arms which looks nice. Again I can't complain about the paint. He even has a Diamond Dogs symbol on his left a shoulder which is nice. The Articulation:This is where the aforementioned Revoltech joints come in handy. This figure can move. If you have Raiden then you just about know what you're getting into. Even the shoulder joints have that same double Revoltech joint Raiden had that allows for plenty of movement, even if it's somewhat awkward to move. His ponytail is on a balljoint too, which isn't necessary but it does help. Only differences from him is that Venom here has tiny Revoltech for wrist joints which allow for more movement than the simple wrist hinges. Also odd is the fact that his hips are on balljoints rather than the typical Revoltech joints. I had no problem with the Revoltech hip joints of Raiden but I know the more standard hips will please many people. Alas he can't fully push his legs together, leaving him with a slightly bowlegged stance. What you see in the preview pictures is as close as his legs get. This isn't too much of a problem since I think that looks fine, not to mention that once you get this guy in-hand you'll want to pose him a lot. He is just pure hand candy especially when combined with his accessories. Speaking of which...The Accessories:This figure is loaded with accessories. First off, he comes with four weapons at his disposal. He comes with a pistol, a sniper rifle, an assault rifle, and finally a knife for CQC action. The best part of these weapons is that just like in the game he can carry them all at once. The sniper rifle has a peg on it that simply pegs into a hole on his back. The pistol is a bit weird as it doesn't slide into his holster but instead it pops into it. What I mean by this is that the holster is hollow on the inside which allows the pistol to be placed inside. I would have preferred a standard fully working holster but this is serviceable. I do find the pistol doesn't lock too securely. His knife can be stored in a working holster on his back so that's nice. Finally to get the assault rifle pegged in on the side of the canteen you have to slide a peg out of the canteen, then you have to plug a little tool on the top of the rifle, and finally you just peg the tool onto the canteen. Were it not for the instructions on the back of the box, I would not have figured this out. His sniper rifle also comes with an interchangeable set of stands for his sniper rifle. One folded in and one folded out for when he's getting ready to snipe out some Russian soldiers. He doesn't just come with guns though as he comes with four sets of hands. Two fists, two trigger finger hands, a cigar holding hand, an open hand for his robot arm, another trigger finger hand for his organic arm but this time the grip is wider, and finally a "v for victory" hand which can be used to replicate promotional artwork from the game. An iDroid and phantom cigar are included too. Try not to lose them, they're small. He also comes with a tool for moving his eye, but I'd be careful with it. It's awfully thin. I think my personal favorite accessory is the silver ROCKETTO PAUNCH hand. While not quite an accessory he also comes with a papercraft cardboard box that you can glue together and fit him inside. He won't fit all the way due to his sheer size but it still looks good in the right pose. Finally he has a standard display stand that you can either peg into his back or use a clip that you wrap around the figure. The stand Raiden came with was garbage so I'm glad Venom comes with a stand more akin to the Figuarts or Figma kind of stands. Oh I almost forgot another stand is included that's the standard Revoltech effects stand that came with Raiden and so many others that you easily peg into his feet. Like I said, he is loaded with accessories.Overall Thoughts:Venom Snake didn't make for a great protagonist in my opinion but he makes for an excellent figure. All of his accessories along with articulation give you lots of pose options. He can be found for around $60 which is about the price I paid for him. This is a bit much but for all you get it's worth it. He can also be found for cheaper depending where you look. I simply cannot recommend this figure enough to you if you're a fan of Metal Gear. Even if you're not a fan of MGSV or the dumb twist don't let that get in the way. This is a finely made figure and I wish we'd get more from this line even if the current state of Konami probably won't allow that which is such a shame.
