We just bought a house right on the shore and these are perfect for looking across the water. I thought about getting him a pair of marine bins since we're looking over water but since we're not actually floating (in a boat per se) I wanted a stronger magnification than the suggested 7x42 or 8x42 that marine bins offer. These lenses are crystal clear and they are heavy duty rubberized allowing for easy handling. The case is a good sturdy one as is the floating neck strap. My only minor complaint is the lens caps; the ocular lens cap is one piece for both lenses and doesn't like to stay put so it falls off when removing or replacing the bins to their case and the individual objective lens caps tend to pop out of their sockets too - it's barely enough of a hassle to mention but I'm giving a proper product review here. Oh, the compass is a nice feature too. I would definitely recommend buying these binoculars.
