I'm not entirely sure. I did some research about it for exams and read exam rules but it just mentions a black or blue pen. However, when I did my GCSE I remember somewhere mentioning the thick shouldn't be over 1mm. Just so you are aware, this pen has white colored ink. I'm jusy informing you so you dont accidentally purchase this having thought it was black. I do recommend this for black paper though because it is really vibrant. **Q: How does this compare to the sakura gelly roll pens in white please anyone know?** A: The uni 153 as a slight edge over the Sakura. Both great products. **Q: Can it be used on acrylic paintings** A: Yes it can be **Q: I need a white pen for my gcse photography book - which has black pages. does this pen smudge? does it last long?** A: The ink in these pens is a thicker consistency than a normal pen, it's more like a gel and so needs a bit of time to dry, (not too long!), which means they can smudge beforehand. They leave a raised texture on the page once dry. I cannot really vouch for how long they last, as I only use them in my artwork, rather than for prolonged written work, but I would guess they last less time than an ordinary Biro. They are lovely to use though, very smooth and produce a striking effect.
