The real Dragon Ball makes a comeback
Some of you may have seen Dragon Ball's many theatrical films, heard about this one and thought: it's probably the same style. It is not.For the first time, original manga author Akira Toriyama is personally writing the story for a Dragon Ball movie. And it shows. The character's true personalities from the manga finally shine through in a feature film. It's a joy to watch. Just don't expect a lot of action. While there is a bit, namely towards the end, this is more original Dragon Ball than Dragon Ball Z, with more emphasis on the comedic, light-hearted side of the characters and story. But you won't regret it. If you're mostly a fan of the original manga, you owe it to yourself to get this movie.I didn't watch the English-dubbed version, so I can't comment on that one, but the Japanese version is as you'd expect it'd be. Apart from the ones that have already passed away, all of the original actors are back (and I mean ALL of them - even the ones that play characters with a mere one line - like Chaozu) and their performance is, as usual, impeccable. I relished seeing Shigeru Chiba and his hilarious voice back as Pilaf. When I say it's a joy to watch, I mean it.The 4-star rating is due to just one thing. Whether you listen to the English or the Japanese version of the movie, both theme songs are the English versions, not the Japanese ones. Which kinda sucks for fans that are already accustomed to hearing the ending theme (CHA-LA HEAD CHA-LA) in Japanese. I mean, how hard could it have been for Toei to provide both versions?...

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods
Having been a fan of Dragon Ball and watched all the episodes growing up, I knew what to expect. Stunning animations, epic fight scenes. Back then Dragon Ball had set the standard for fighting in anime. How does this film compare to TV show. I feel as though this improves upon the standard set by the TV show and still has all the charm from the series as well as the fighting. The story is set after the events of the majin buu saga, when Beerus the god of destruction wakes up and begins looking for a super-saiyain god. Which leads him to Earth. I'm not going to go into to much detail as it will spoil it. Something happens which causes Beerus to become angered and wants to destroy the world. This leads to the battles with the Z fighter, Piccolo, Vegeta, Gotenks, and mystic Gohan as well as Goku. There are times in this movie where I went OH MY GOD that was awesome!!! That for me makes this film awesome. It captures all that people love about the Dragon Ball series into a film. To be honest I never really went looking for any problems, even watching for the third time I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time. The animation is top notch, the voice acting is awesome, the music gets you into the action. I recommend this film to any Dragon Ball fan, you won't regret watching it.

DBZ: Battle Of Gods Review (spoilers)
I usually post reviews on SW stuff, but I watched this movie not too long ago and thought I'd share my thoughts on it. I watched DBZ in the nineties and was and still am, a big fan. When I heard of this movie I was interested and picked up the Blu Ray not too long after its release. I'll get to what I thought of it now: Good if your a fan, but otherwise unremarkable. First, the things I liked about it; Vegeta's character being overly respectful and in awe of Beerus (he actually makes a fool of himself to diffuse a dangerous situation) not two aspects we see a lot from Vegeta in DBZ, Beerus himself, an antagonist that isn't so much evil in seeking out Goku but is just curious to see how strong the Super Saiyan is who defeated Freeza. And the outcome I liked too, being that Goku gave all he had against Beerus and there was no reversal of fortune through a transformation or one of the other Z fighters coming to the rescue. An antagonist sparing Earth I thought was at LEAST original. Now, the problems: SuperSaiyanGod. To me, it just seems like Akira Toriyama and other collaborative writers are running out of ideas. Firstly, "Pure Hearted Saiyans"-? I cannot honestly imagine at any point in DBZ history there being 'Pure Hearted Saiyans.' Goku was an exception due to his head injury. *And I'm referring to Saiyans. NOT Saiyan hybrids* And I don't really see much of a distinction between characters giving they're energy to a sole fighter we've seen many times in DBZ and what is required to create a SuperSaiyanGod. Cept they have to be Saiyans. And number 4. Bleh. And another gripe would have to be DBZ movies STILL refusing to have a protagonist other then Goku to save the day. IMO the height of original writing was shifting the hero role from Goku to Gohan in the Cell chapter. Gohan is no longer a scared, frightened young lad, but is instead confident, and resolute. Simply having Goku be the one to defeat every threat just gets Stale. And I think Toriyama recognised this with his decision to have the son take over from the father in the Cell chapter. Sure it can be argued that Goku killed Kid Buu-Toriyama saw the error of his ways-but I don't believe any of that crap. It was the noisy anti-Gohan fanboys whining constantly and Toriyama's good nature giving in.Anyway, I hear for the follow up movie Revival of F, Vegeta will be the main protagonist. Which is a start for a DBZ movie having a main protagonist other then Goku. And I need to make this clear: I AM a big fan of Goku. I'm not bashing him as a character. Just it got quite monotonous with Goku being the main character to fight every threat in the last few movies and certainly GT (Yes, I know its not canon) before BOG's. Especially when there was an abundance of new generation talent, Uub, Goten, Trunks, Pan and Bra.Anyway, Rant over.I Liked the film, but really I think I only liked it because I was already a huge DBZ fan. And a part of me was a little disappointed with it with expectations high. If your a DBZ fan pick this up. If I'm honest I think I enjoyed the extended cut better.7/10

WELL WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!
I will start off this review by saying that I am a massive Dragon Ball fan. When I found out that a new movie was coming out I was overjoyed. This is the first movie to be released for 17 years I think, and what a movie it is!!!!!. This movie has it all, from Goku being knocked out in two blows, to Vegeta dancing................yep, Vegeta dances in this movie. That reason alone is enough to buy this movie. The animation and fighting sequences in this movie are amazing, as well as the new storyline. In this movie, the Z fighters must face Lord Beerus, the fabled God of Destruction. Five stars all the way. Oh and for those who don't know, it has been officially confirmed that another movie will be released in 2015. I can't wait.
