We’ve owned shelters that have fibreglass poles, despite following the instructions and being very careful, the poles split. I have up** A: The pop up frame is quite hardy and equal to or better than a small beach tent that you have to erect by threading and joining individual rods. It easily keeps its shape. Trust me the weight of filling the four pockets with sand is far superior than attempting to secure it with steel tent pegs ,into loose sand. Easy to set up and pack away (once practiced without wind!). We got the large version, and plenty of room, we even put the babies pushchair inside and plenty of space for a couple of people too. Unfortunately on our 2nd days use, in maybe slightly above average windy conditions one of the flat metal bars flexed and bent the wrong way, causing the tent to collapse on one side. This made it almost impossible to fold away again.
