Ok, I'm a bit of a hobbyist and don't know the who, what's and why's on why anyone needs one but i can tell you why I did and love it. I bought this to travel with to and from work using it there and in my garage. I have trouble with my vision and the blue mat makes it easier to see small parts from blending in with my desk and work table. I also needed something to protect my desk at work from grime and heat from my iron. This works wonderfully at my job. It's burn proof from the iron and doesn't slide on the desk at all. Very stationary in fact and it's comfortable to wrest your wrists on. All the little nooks and crannies to put parts in is something i never knew i needed but it makes laying out my projects in order of application so much easier and i spend less time looking around for stuff in bottles and drawers i get things done faster. I love this i wish i had this back when i first started soldering in junior high.

Bought this to work on old game consoles as well as other projects that involve small screws and delicate work. Perfect size for me. Found the little bins useful for keeping track of different parts. Pad is heat-resistant - soldered at 650F for hours and didn't even leave a mark. Looking forward to using it for other activities like phone repair. Worth noting: the mat smelled AWFUL when I first opened the package. It was enough to make me gag and I don't even have a good sense of smell. Washed it off and left it outside overnight to air out and it's hardly noticeable now unless you get very close and sniff it.

I'm very happy and I have no negatives to mention about this soldering pad, it's large, thick, and the company threw some useful bonus items into the box. Hopefully I'll remember to attach some of the photos I've taken. The bonus items were a static discharge wrist strap, which I really needed because I can't find my old one, a screwdriver "pen" that has a few different heads, which I can use, and a cleaning cloth. I wanted a larger pad that I could leave in place all the time and place my PC keyboard on, my work area is dual purpose for software coding and working on electronic hardware. The mat is just large enough to hold the keyboard level and fits/looks nice. Overall, I've very impressed and I can highly recommend this soldering pad.

I am really enjoying this Mat, It makes my job easy. I thought I was just going to use it to for small electronics, but it works perfectly for everything because of its size, It provided a nice surface for working on it, the lids close well and does not smell bad, like others that I bought, it worked great, easy to clean. This is a definitely a great mat to have if you do repair phones and electronics as beginner or professional, I highly recommend it.

Nice size mat to work on. Seems ideal size for working on transistor radios. + I like the idea to place small components (screws, resistors, transistors, capacitors etc) at hand at the work station. + Able to string up precision screwdrivers. + Magnetic sections. The top right corner is magnetic and a good place to keep my tin of flux. The compartment just below it fits a my sized wet sponge for soldering tip cleaning (use distilled water). - The 3 small square compartments with lids: The lids do not fit properly and 2 of them stay flipped up and open. Not enough friction fit to keep them closed, so I knocked a star off for that (should be a half star). I may take a razor and just cut them off. No matter, overall a nice size soldering mat and provides small parts organization. Provides protection on my work table surface, and a non-slip surface for my helping hands thing when I need it to hold a pc board. Although new to me - should be easy to clean too.

An excellent work mat/tray/organizer!!! This far exceeded my expectations as it has numbers embossed into the spots for screw to help organize the parts. It's magnetic also which helps with keeping things in place and being made of silicon rubber its highly resistant to high temperatures.

Very nice product. It does not have any bad smell, which can be common in products made with this material. The size is adequate (I have already used it to repair an iPhone and a Chromebook) and there is sufficient space to work. If the work area was a little bit larger and it had a couple more magnetic areas, it would basically be a perfect product.

This was ordered for my work bench to fix the problem of solder iron and heat blower causing heat damage to my regular anti-static mat and this is exactly what was needed. Heat does not seem to bother this mat at all and the compartments allow for organizing of SMD components for repair and prototyping assembly. Great product and very much worth the cost.
