No instructions on how to adjust the depth? How to do that? I see different levels.

You don’t need to adjust depth with this. It is a calibrated tamper that uses a spring; you push until the resistance gives way and then you are done. It should be sufficiently deep for any double basket.

Why does it have a screw on portion? Am I supposed to adjust/calibrate something?

The screw on is just the way it’s put together. No adjustment is possible nor required.

Is the pressure or depth adjustable?

No there is no adjustment. It has a pretty good range of depth though that will depend on how much you fill the portafilter basket with your coffee as to how far down it goes. I love mine.

Why is the top removable?

Honestly I didn’t know the top screwed on or off until I received this question but I do see someone has already answered this same question back in March 2023 Question: Why does it have a screw on portion?
