The excess goes inside anyway so there's no excess hanging out. **Q: Can it work with a Samsung or does it have to be a Google phone?** A: My pixel watch works great with my Samsung phone. I haven't noticed any compatibility issues. The bands aren't interchangeable though. **Q: Does anyone know how long it takes for the smell to go away?** A: I did not buy the lemongrass band. It already ripped on the one part by the base where it connects to the watch. I'm honestly really annoyed by this because this $60 watch band broke in literally less than 20 days. I purchased it because the silicone band gave me contact dermatitis. This band caused me no skin issues, even with sweating and the occasional band getting wet besides cleaning. That is the only reason I gave it 2 stars. I put in for a replacement, so hopefully the next one will be better made. If it is I'll edit this review. I got the delivery for the replacement in mid August and so far (almost mid November) this one is made a LOT better and is doing very well so far.
